ROH TV 3-2-13 Review

ROH Matchmaker Nigel McGuinness called out Matt Hardy. Matt Hardy came out with the ROH Television Championship, which currently belonged to Adam Cole, and said that he would give the belt back on the condition that he get an opportunity at the championship. After Hardy handed Nigel the belt, Nigel told Hardy that if he goes through 4 other competitors in a Fatal 4-Way match, then he’d get an opportunity; Matt Hardy agreed to it. Lastly, there was the ROH Tag Team Championship Match between champions The Briscoes and challengers Wrestling’s Greatest Tag Team. The added stipulation was that if WGTT lost, they could never team together ever again in ROH. Charlie Haas shocked the world when he turned his back on Shelton Benjamin. Mark Briscoe reluctantly finished Shelton off and The Briscoes retained their championships. Therefore, WGTT is history. After the match, Charlie Haas made that even more clear when he tore up a WGTT t-shirt. Of course, the one question that remains is why Charlie Haas turned his back on his long-time friend and tag team partner. This also means that Shelton Benjamin has turned face (good guy).…

OVW TV 3-2-13 Review

OVW Director of Operations and former U.S. Military Serviceman Michael Hayes called out The Coalition and expressed his anger towards their recent actions, which have been disgraceful to all the U.S. Military Service Men and Women. He specifically directed it towards Crimson and Jason Wayne since they too are former U.S. Military Servicemen. He informed the two that they would be defending their OVW Southern Tag Team Championship against The Gut Checkers on this edition of OVW TV instead of at the Saturday Night Special. The Gut Checkers ended up regaining the championship from Crimson and Wayne. After the match was over, fellow Coalition members Joe Coleman and Jack Black challenged the new champions for their championship at the Saturday Night Special, which was accepted. Also, Michael Hayes informed Josette Bynum that she would be banned from ringside during the match between Trailer Park Trash and Flash Flanagan at the Saturday Night Special, which was to be TPT’s last match. Lastly, Robbie E made his first-ever appearance at an OVW event end teamed up with OVW Heavyweight Champion Doug Williams to take on the team of Jamin Olivencia and Rob Terry. Olivencia and Terry ended up being victorious.…

This past Saturday, soon-to-be WWE Hall of Famer Bruno Sammartino was inducted into another Hall of Fame in the form of the International Sports Hall of Fame at the Arnold Classic Sports Festival in Columbus, Ohio. Three men that were in attendance included Arnold Schwarzenegger himself, WWE Chief Operating Officer Triple H, and fellow International Sports Hall of Famer and current WWE Superstar Mark Henry.…

WWE Smackdown Live Event 3-2-13 Review

This past Saturday, I attended an untelevised Smackdown event in Kalamazoo, MI at Wings Stadium as part of the Road to WrestleMania. In Divas action, it was NXT’s Paige going one-on-one with AJ Lee with Hornswoggle as the special guest referee. Paige was able to pull off the huge win by defeating AJ Lee. I truly believe that this victory over AJ ought to make Paige’s future WWE very bright. Speaking of AJ, the WWE Universe was given the opportunity to vote on whether she should be able to stay at ringside or be sent to the back during the WWE Tag Team Championship Match between champions Team Hell No and the team of Mr. Money In the Bank Dolph Ziggler & NXT Champion Big E Langston. I voted for AJ to be ejected from ringside, but unfortunately, that did not end up getting the most votes; however, at one point in the match, the ref ejected AJ from ringside after she jumped up on the ring apron. In the end, Team Hell No was able to get the victory and retain their championships. Lastly, in the main event, World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio defended his championship against The …

WWE Saturday Morning Slam 3-2-13 Review

On this edition of Saturday Morning Slam, Cody Rhodes filled in for Smackdown General Manager Booker T on commentary (the regular commentary team being Josh Mathews and Booker T) because Booker T was busy with his duties of trying to determine who the General Manager of Saturday Morning Slam should be. The superstars that stated their cases included Damien Sandow, Zack Ryder, Mr. Money In the Bank Dolph Ziggler & AJ Lee, Natalya, WWE Tag Team Champion Daniel Bryan, and R-Truth. But since there was so much jibber jabber going on in Booker T’s office between the potential candidates, he walked out of his office, thus not yet naming a GM. Now me personally, I think Booker T definitely needs to name a face (good guy) as the GM; especially for this show since it is a show intended for kids; I don’t thing we’d want a heel (bad guy) setting a bad example for the kids. Out of all the superstars mentioned above, I would choose R-Truth as the GM because he is not only about the WWE Universe, but he also does a thing that kids would do, which is make an imaginary friend; Truth’s being Little Jimmy. …

WWE Smackdown 3-1-13 Review

This edition of Smackdown was called Social Media Smackdown. This meant that the WWE Universe could send tweets throughout the show. The commentary team for the night was Michael Cole, WWE Hall of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler, and Josh Mathews. JBL sent out a tout and the commentators spoke with Chris Jericho via Skype. JBL touted from the mountain he is climbing in Argentina for a charity cause and Jericho was skyping from Australia where his band Fozzy was on tour. Also, World Heavyweight Alberto Del Rio announced on WWE Active that he was gonna allow the WWE Universe to vote for his opponent for next week’s Smackdown. The choices were Mr. Money In the Bank Dolph Ziggler, Intercontinental Champion Wade Barrett, and United States Champion Antonio Cesaro. Dolph Ziggler ended getting the most votes, so that is who Del Rio’s opponent will be next week on Smackdown. One of the great things about this edition of Smackdown was the fact that JBL was not on commentary, he sucks at it. At least I think the mountain he is climbing is supposed keep him occupied for a little while.…

Impact Wrestling 2-28-13 Review

General Manager Hulk Hogan was absent from the show this week due to the attack from Aces & Eights the previous week and was at home recovering from his surgery. Also, both teams for the Lethal Lockdown Match at Lockdown are set. The Aces & Eights team consist of Team Captain and TNA Television Champion Devon, D.O.C., Mr. Anderson, Mike Knox, and Garett Bischoff. Team TNA consists of Team Captain and TNA Hall of Famer Sting, Samoa Joe, James Storm, Magnus, and Eric Young. Two more matches for Lockdown were also announced; TNA Knockout Women’s Champion Velvet Sky will defend her championship against Gail Kim and TNA World Tag Team Champions Bobby Roode and Austin Aries will defend their championships against Chavo Guerrero and Hernandez. Also, Kenny King defeated Rob Van Dam to become the new X Division Champion. It was also the return of TNA Gut Check. The two gut checkers for this week were Ivelisse Velez and Lei’d Tapa, who is the niece of wrestling legend The Barbarian. Ivelisse Velez got the victory, but was it enough to impress the Gut Check Judges enough for an opportunity to earn a TNA contract. Only one of these women will …

WWE Smackdown 3-1-13 Preview

Tonight on Smackdown, Randy Orton will be going one-on-one with The Big Show. Also, WWE United States Champion Antonio Cesaro will be defending his championship against The Miz in a 2 Out of 3 Falls Match. Can The Miz finally become a 3-time WWE United States Champion. Also tonight, Fandango, the man formerly known as Johnny Curtis, finally makes his return to Smackdown. Lastly, WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross will attempt to talk some sense into Jack Swagger when he conducts an interview with him tonight. For those of you who may not know, it was actually Jim Ross that first brought Jack Swagger into the WWE and they’re both Oklahoma natives.…

WWE Superstars 2-28-13 Review

The first match of the night was Brodus Clay & Tensai taking on Primo & Epico. One thing I’ve noticed about Brodus Clay & Tensai is the fact that every time they make their way to the ring, Tensai doesn’t seem to have that funky groove thing going on. But once the match is going on and after they are victorious in their matches, that’s when Tensai seems to have the funky groove thing going on. This night was no different after they knocked off Primo & Epico. In the main event, Kofi Kingston went one-on-one with David Otunga with Kofi Kingston flying to victory.…

Review on Robot Combat League

After watching the very first edition of Robot Combat League, which is hosted by WWE Superstar Chris Jericho, here is my take on it. I didn’t find all the preparations and sorts all that interesting, but as far as the combating between the robots, that’s when things really start to get interesting. Regardless of my take on the show, I still plan on tuning in because WWE Superstar Chris Jericho is on the show and like stay updated when it comes to WWE. For those who may be interested in tuning in, you can catch the show every Tuesday night at 10/9ct on Syfy.…

WWE NXT 2-27-13 Review

The show started out backstage with NXT General Manager and WWE Hall of Famer Dusty Rhodes talking with Bo Dallas. All of sudden, Corey Graves walks in with Big E Langston’s NXT Championship intact. He Reluctantly hands the belt over to Dusty Rhodes, who is obviously intending to return it to it’s current owner. Then, Corey asks why Bo Dallas is there and Dusty responds by saying that Bo is there because of his recent accomplishments over current Intercontinental Champion Wade Barrett. Corey Graves then tells dusty that he should be NXT Champion. Once Dusty hears this, he makes a no. 1 contenders triple threat match between Corey Graves, Conor O’Brian, and Bo Dallas in the main event of the evening, the winner gets a shot at Big E Langston’s championship. Later on in the program, backstage announcer Renee Young reports that Bo Dallas was mysteriously attacked and was not able to compete. Therefore, the triple threat match turned into a one-on-one match. Before the match could decide the winner, out of nowhere comes The Shield and attacks both competitors, leaving no no. 1 contender to the championship in the end. Personally, I have mixed emotions about that outcome. On …

WWE Main Event 2-27-13 Review

The regular commentary team for Main Event are Michael Cole and The Miz, but on this edition of the program, for reasons unknown, The Miz was absent and WWE Hall of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler sat in for him that night. Also, at the start of the show, WWE Divas Champion Kaitlyn ran into Cody Rhodes backstage for the second time in a row. Soon after, Sheamus walked in and talked about Cody’s Mustache. This lead to Cody issuing a challenge to Sheamus, which was excepted. Despite Cody’s best effort, Sheamus was victorious. Later on backstage, Cody was livid over his loss, but Kaitlyn attempted to comfort Cody by saying, “The mustache never gives up.” After Kaitlyn took off, it appeared that Cody was taking some thought into that statement. I personally believe that it’s only the mustache that Kaitlyn digs and not necessarily Cody Rhodes himself. In the other main event of the night, Mark Henry dominated Justin Gabriel. To end the show, they took a look back at the epic match between John Cena and Cm Punk from this past Monday on Raw. I guess the match was so epic, they decided to actually show the match …
