Impact Wrestling 6-27-13: Austin Aries Is Suicide?

TNA Gut Check Returns

In a TNA Gut Check Match, “The Big O” Adam Ohriner, who is currently not a part of TNA, went one-on-one with Ryan Howe, who is currently spending time down at TNA’s Developmental System Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW). While I was a fan of both these men, I decided to root for Ohriner. In the end, it was Ohriner that came out on top. But will it be enough to impress the TNA Gut Check Judges (Bruce Prichard, Al Snow, & OVW Owner “Nightmare” Danny Davis) to advance to having the opportunity to earn a TNA contract, or will Howe advance?

Mickie James Retains, Velvet Breaks Down

After weeks of ducking Velvet Sky, TNA Knockout Women’s Champion Mickie James finally had to defend her championship against Velvet, the woman who was entitled to a rematch after losing the championship to Mickie. Although Velvet was medically cleared to compete, her knee was not 100% going into this match and Mickie took full advantage of exploiting that. In the end, it all paid off when Mickie defeated Velvet to retain her championship. After the match, in an interview with ring announcer Christy Hemme, Velvet expressed her frustrations …

Impact Wrestling 6-13-13: Who is the New Main Event Mafia?

The show began with General Manager Hulk Hogan telling everybody that after what had happened at the end of last week’s Impact Wrestling, Hulk gave her daughter and Knockouts Executive Brooke Hogan the night off. Hulk then went on to discuss the Bound For Glory Series; he announced that both Jeff Hardy and Bobby Roode had automatically been entered into the series, who both come out to the ring. The three men are then interrupted by Aces & Eights. TNA World Heavyweight Champion, President of The Aces & Eights, and Hulk’s estranged son-in-law Bully Ray, brings up the fact that not one member of Aces & Eights is entered into the Bound For Glory Series. Hulk then tells Bully that one member of Aces & Eights will end up qualifying by winning a Battle Royal that features only members of Aces & Eights later on in the show. Hulk also announced that next week on Impact Wrestling, it will be Open Fight Night, which allows anybody on the TNA roster to call out anybody and that person is required to fight. Hulk then said that the TNA Fans will get to vote on whether Jeff Hardy or Bobby Roode get …

Impact Wrestling 6-6-13: Who Was Brooke Hogan Trying to Save?

On this edition of Impact Wrestling, there were two Bound For Glory Series Qualifying Matches. The first match was between tag team partners Chavo Guerrero, Jr. and Shawn Hernandez with Hernandez coming out on top and earning the right to qualify. After the match, although Chavo seemed to show some frustration, he and Hernandez embraced in a display of sportsmanship. The second qualifying match was between Samoa Joe and Robbie E with Joe coming out on top and earning the right to qualify. Also, backstage, Velvet Sky and TNA Knockout Women’s Champion Mickie James had an encounter. Mickie came up with an excuse for not coming to Velvet’s aid the previous week on Impact Wrestling, as well as an excuse not to grant Velvet her rematch for the championship. After seeing all of that transpire, there is no doubt in my mind that Mickie has turned heel. She proved that even more in her match she had later on with fellow heel Taeler Hendrix when Mickie feigned a knee injury to get the victory. I am, quite frankly, shocked that Mickie would turn her back on her fans. Also, it was the TNA debut of current MMA fighter and TNA’s …

Impact Wrestling 5-30-13: Jeff Hardy Returns At Slammiversary

On the final edition of Impact Wrestling before the upcoming Slammiversary Pay-Per-View event, at the beginning of the show, it appeared that Aces & Eightsh had turned on D’Lo Brown, thus turning D’Lo face. Also, after Aces & Eights members D.O.C. and Wes Brisco interfered in the match between fellow Aces & Eights cohort Garett Bischoff’s and Samoa Joe’s match, thus giving Joe the win by disqualification, Joe’s tag team partner Brutus Magnus came to his aid and both men cleared the ring of Aces & Eights. Afterwards, Joe announced that at Slammiversary, it would be Aces & Eights members D.O.C., Bischoff, & Brisco against Joe, Magnus, and the returning Jeff Hardy. Also, during new TNA Knockout Women’s Champion Mickie James’ championship celebration, she told the TNA Fans that there have been a lot of people questioning the way she won the championship from Velvet Sky the previous week on Impact Wrestling when she targeted Velvet’s injured knee. Mickie then asked Velvet to come out so that she could clear the air. After Velvet came out, Velvet said that everything was cool between them and that she wants her rematch for the championship. Mickie responded by saying that she would …

Impact Wrestling 5-23-13: AJ Styles Stands Alone?

The show began with General Manager Hulk Hogan coming out to discuss the No Holds Barred TNA World Heavyweight Championship Match between Champion and the President of Aces & Eights Bully Ray and Challenger and TNA Hall of Famer Sting at the upcoming Slammiversary Pay-Per-View event. Hogan then has Sting come out; he then reminds Sting about the fact that he agreed that if he didn’t beat Bully Ray then he would never get another opportunity at the championship again for the rest of his career. While Hogan tried to persuade Sting into not going through with it, Sting made it clear that his mind was made up. Then, Hulk’s daughter and Knockouts Executive Brooke Hogan comes out and tells Hulk and Sting that she feels that neither one of them is at fault for all the power that Aces & Eights have gained, but that she is at fault because she was the one that fell for her estranged husband Bully Ray. Brooke was then about to resign as Knockouts Executive because she felt that it was best for TNA, but before she could, her father cuts her off before she does something she may regret. Bully Ray then …

Impact Wrestling 5-16-13: Sting’s Last World Championship Opportunity?

The Show began with General Manager Hulk Hogan coming out to call out Abyss and thank him for returning last week and aiding TNA in the war against Aces & Eights; however, Abyss’ brother Joseph Park came out instead. Park then tells Hogan how ecstatic he is that his brother is back because he has been looking for him for a long time. They then get interrupted by Aces & Eights members TNA Television Champion Devon & D’Lo Brown. Park then goes on to tell Devon that he has had of enough of The Aces & Eights’ actions and challenges Devon to a match. Devon responds by telling Park that until he proves something to him, he refuses to face him. D’Lo then offers to fight Park and prove a point so that he can earn back his Aces & Eights vest. Hogan then decides to make the match official for the evening and says that if Park wins, then he’ll get to face Devon in a non-title match at the upcoming Slammiversary Pay-Per-View event. Also, TNA Knockouts Executive Brooke Hogan told Mickie James that she will get an opportunity at Velvet Sky’s TNA Knockout Women’s Championship next week on …

Impact Wrestling 5-9-13: Abyss Returns

The show began with TNA Hall of Famer Sting and Kurt Angle coming out to get AJ Styles’ answer of whether or not he would team with them to take on Aces & Eights members TNA World Heavyweight Champion Bully Ray, TNA Television Champion Devon, & Ken Anderson later in the main event of the evening. AJ Styles comes out, then Angle asked him if he was in or out. When AJ wouldn’t answer, Angle started to lose his patience. Sting calmed Angle down and then tried to get through to AJ by reminding him of who he was, but when AJ still wouldn’t answer, Angle once again got in AJ’s face, but AJ took off. However, Angle was in hot pursuit of AJ and the two then got into a brawl at the entrance ramp. Then, with Sting distracted by the brawl, Bully Ray, Devon, & Anderson sneak attack Sting. Afterwards, TNA cameras caught up with AJ backstage and asked him if he was in or out, but AJ once again refused to answer and stormed out of the building. After doing that, it could only be assumed that AJ was out; therefore, Sting and Angle still needed to …

Impact Wrestling 5-2-13: Sting Is the New #1 Contender

The show began with General Manager Hulk Hogan calling out TNA Hall of Famer Sting to apologize for not accepting his help in the ongoing war between TNA and Aces & Eights. The two shook hands and then Sting asked Hulk for his permission to put together a Six-Man Tag Team Match between three of TNA’s best against three members of Aces & Eights for next week on Impact Wrestling, which Hulk agreed to. Then, Hulk started discussing the next #1 contender to the President of The Aces & Eights Bully Ray’s TNA World Heavyweight Championship, but before he can go any further, Matt Morgan comes out and complains about the fact that he thinks he’s just gonna hand Sting the #1 contendership. Hulk then explains to Morgan that nothing is going to be handed out anymore and that everything must be earned. With that being said, Hulk made a #1 contenders’ match between Sting and Morgan for the main event of the evening and the winner would go on to face Bully Ray for his championship at the upcoming Slammiversary Pay-Per-View event. Also, in a Three-Way X Division Match to determine the #1 contender to Kenny King’s X Division …

Impact Wrestling 4-25-13: Sting Returns

The show began with James Storm coming out giving credit to AJ Styles, who was standing amongst the crowd in attendance, for defeating him last week on Impact Wrestling. Storm then addressed The Aces & Eights attacking him after the match and then dared them to come out and fight. Instead, he gets interrupted by Bad Influence (Christopher Daniels & Frankie Kazarian). Bad Influence then addresses the fact that they were attacked by Aces & Eights as well the previous week and that they think that they should reform the faction known as Fortune, in which Styles, Storm, Daniels, and Kazarian were once members of, and take down The Aces & Eights. While AJ left everybody with more questions than answers, like he has been for the past number of weeks, Storm made it clear that he had no interest in reforming Fortune when he decided to fight them instead of Aces & Eights, since they wouldn’t come out. Unfortunately, the numbers’ game caught up with Storm and Bad Influence left him lying in the ring in the end. Then, Aces & Eights come out to pick up the scraps, but then, Joseph Park comes to Storm’s aid. Park is …

Impact Wrestling 4-18-13: Aces & Eights Continue To Terrorize TNA

The show began with a 2-on-1 Handicap Match between Kurt Angle and Aces & Eights members Garett Bischoff & Wes Brisco. Despite the fact that it was 2-on-1, Aces & Eights exploited their numbers’ game even more when the VP of Aces & Eights D’Lo Brown distracted the referee allowing Bischoff to use a chain on Angle and allow Brisco to get the pin and the win for his team. After the match, Aces & Eights then injured Angle with a brutal double-powerbomb. Also, in a Triple Threat X Division Championship Match, Kenny King defended against Zema Ion and Petey Williams. Towards the end of the match, while Petey had Zema locked in the Sharpshooter submission hold, Kenny jumped on top of Petey and picked up Petey’s scraps by pinning Zema. Since Zema was the one who got pinned, he now heads to the back of the line for an opportunity at the championship while Petey will get to be one of Kenny’s challengers in the next Triple Threat X Division Championship Match. Also, TNA Television Champion and Aces & Eights member Devon was scheduled to defend against Magnus; however, just as Magnus made his entrance, he gets jumped by …

Impact Wrestling 4-11-13: Bully Ray Retains, Jeff Hardy Injured

The show began with TNA World Tag Team Champions Bobby Roode & Austin Aries defending against Chavo Guerrero & Hernandez in a 2-Out-of-3 Falls Match and if Chavo & Hernandez lost, they could never team together again in TNA. The champs jumped their challengers before the match even started. Once the match started, the champs were able to get the easy first fall. Fortunately, Chavo was able to rally back and get the second fall for his team. In the end, the third and final fall went to Chavo & Hernandez, thus becoming the new champions and remaining a team. Also, Joseph Park attempted to use his legal actions as a lawyer to present a marriage annulment for Knockouts Executive Brooke Hogan and her estranged husband TNA World Heavyweight Champion and President of Aces & Eights Bully Ray. However, TNA Television Champion and Aces & Eights member Devon came out and tore up the marriage annulment, advised Joseph not to get involved in the Aces & Eights family business, and knocked out Joseph with a chain. Also, Brooke Hogan informed Joey Ryan that she was disgusted by his actions as Knockouts Referee last week and that he not only has …

Impact Wrestling 4-4-13: Aces & Eights Gain and Lose

The program began with Aces & Eights coming to the ring to address the TNA Fans. TNA Television Champion Devon announced that he had an envelope in his hand that contained something that would change the relationship between TNA World Heavyweight Champion and President of Aces & Eights Bully Ray and his estranged wife Knockout Executive Brooke Hogan. Then, the VP of Aces & Eights D’Lo Brown announced that he was handed a notice from TNA Management that he had been fired from TNA. Despite that, he was at the arena for the rest of the show. I’m guessing that Aces & Eights invited him to the arena last night. Also, Joey Ryan offered Brooke Hogan to have him be Taryn Terrell’s replacement as the Knockouts Referee. Brooke reluctantly agreed, but warned Joey not to touch any of the knockouts in any way. Then, Joey officiated his very first match involving the knockouts (and, as far as I know, his very first match in general) when TNA Knockout Women’s Champion Velvet Sky teamed up with Taryn Terrell to take on the team of Gail Kim and Tara. Not only did Joey disobey Brooke Hogan’s warning by touching the knockouts, but …

Impact Wrestling 4-4-13: Marriage Implosion?

Tomorrow night on Impact Wrestling, TNA World Heavyweight Champion and President of Aces & Eights Bully Ray will call out his estranged wife Knockout Executive Brooke Hogan. What will happen if/when these two come face-to-face and will Brooke’s father General Manager Hulk Hogan get involved in any way? Also, in a 10 Man Tag Team War Match, it will be Team TNA (Kurt Angle, Samoa Joe, Magnus, Eric Young, and Joseph Park) taking on Aces & Eights (TNA Television Champion Devon, D.O.C., Wes Brisco, Garett Bischoff, and Mike Knox). There will also be a Knockouts Tag Team Match when TNA Knockout Women’s Champion Velvet Sky teams with Taryn Terrell to take on Gail Kim and Tara. Also, Sonjay Dutt will be taking on Mason Andrews and Petey Williams in a triple threat match to determine the #1 Contender to Kenny King’s X Division Championship. Lastly, the monthly “Gut Check” returns as Adam Pearce goes one-on-one with Magno to earn an opportunity at getting a TNA contract. Tune in tomorrow night at 8/7ct on Spike.…
