The show began with WWE Executive Vice President of Creative Stephanie McMahon coming out to inform the WWE Universe that despite the fact that her husband and WWE Chief Operating Officer Triple H has been medically cleared to compete, she has made an executive decision to not allow her husband to have his match for the evening against Curtis Axel, much to the dismay of the WWE Universe. Stephanie’s father and WWE Chairman and CEO Vincent K. McMahon came out to back her daughter up on her decision. Later on, when Triple H arrived at the arena, he confronted his wife and father-in-law and made it clear that he was going to have his scheduled match with Curtis Axel, but Stephanie and Mr. McMahon would still not approve. At one point, things started to get a little intense between Triple H and Mr. McMahon when Vince warned Triple H not to do something he might regret. Eventually, Triple H chose to leave the arena so that “his children wouldn’t have to see him beat their grandfather’s ass on national TV”. Before Triple H left in his limousine, he told Stephanie to tell her father that he will be in the wrestling ring at the start of next week’s Raw to go one-on-one with Curtis Axel. Will The McMahon Family get back on the same page? Also, the team of Randy Orton and Team Hell No (Kane & Daniel Bryan) faced The Shield (United States Champion Dean Ambrose & WWE Tag Team Champions Seth Rollins & Roman Reigns) in a Six-Man Tag Team Match. In the end, when Orton tried to hit Reigns with his signature maneuver “The RKO”, Reigns countered and shoved Orton into Bryan, which allowed Ambrose to hit Bryan with his signature maneuver “The Standing Bulldog” to get the pin and the win for his team. Later on, backstage, despite the fact that Orton and Kane tried to convince Bryan otherwise, Bryan’s latest obsession with being the “weak link” once again took place when Bryan decided to challenge someone to a match later on in the night. After running into Ryback backstage, Bryan challenged him to a match, which Ryback accepted. Also, there was the official contract signing for the match between Chris Jericho and CM Punk at the upcoming Pay-Per-View event, Payback. While Jericho was in attendance for the contract signing, CM Punk’s advisor Paul Heyman was there on behalf of his client. Both men signed the contract, thus, making the match official. Payback takes place in Punk’s hometown of Chicago, Illinois; will Punk make his return before then, or not until Payback? Also, in the match between Daniel Bryan and Ryback, Bryan proved to everybody once again that he is not the “weakest link” by taking Ryback to the limit. But in the end, it was Ryback who power bombed Bryan through a table, sending a direct message to his Payback opponent, WWE Champion John Cena. Of course, Bryan got the win by disqualification, but it was Ryback who was the one standing tall.
