This was a special edition of NXT because the theme was “Road to WrestleMania 29”. WWE Hall of Famer Howard Finkel was the ring announcer for the night and the commentary team for the night was Tom Phillips, William Regal, and WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross. We also heard from some of WWE’s biggest names of today including The Shield, World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio, and John Cena; they all discussed their respective upcoming matches for WrestleMania 29. The first match was actually for the WWE Divas Championship when champion Kaitlyn defended against challenger Natalya. While I am a fan of both of these women, I was rooting for Kaitlyn. Kaitlyn ended up getting the victory and after the match, both women shook hands, embraced, and held the championship high together in true class. I should also point out that based on what the commentators were saying throughout the match, it sounds like WWE Divas Champion Kaitlyn will as least be appearing at WrestleMania 29. The next match was David vs. Goliath when Brodus Clay and El Local went one-on-one; Brodus Clay was victorious. At one point during the show, Kassius Ohno came out of nowhere and attacked William Regal. Unfortunately, Regal was unable to continue doing commentary for the rest of the night after the attack and Tom Phillips and Jim Ross had to call the rest of the show without him. In the main event, it was Randy Orton making his first-ever NXT appearance to take on Damien Sandow with Orton emerging victorious. Lastly, it was announced that next week on NXT, it will be NXT Champion Big E Langston defending his championship against the #1 contender, Conor O’Brian. I am not a fan of either of these guys, but since I hate Big E more, I’ll be rooting against him.
