I am sick and tired of WWE holding back great talents like Kofi Kingston, Big E, Xavier Woods, Zack Ryder, R-Truth and Sin Cara. These six men have made significant impacts during their respective runs in WWE. The Hell in a Cell Pay-Per-View event was this past Sunday and not one of these men had a single match on the card or the Kickoff Show (Pre-Show) and they definitely should have.
Kofi Kingston
Kofi Kingston should already be a former World Champion by now. In addition to holding every other major championship WWE has to offer, he also owns numerous victories over former World Champions, he was the team captain and sole survivor of his team at Survivor Series in 2009 and he has created many memorable moments in Royal Rumble Matches and Battle Royals. While he has received World Title opportunities, none of them were one-on-one opportunities; he is way overdue for one. When is WWE going to realize that Kofi is the true future of WWE?
Big E
After spending time down at NXT (WWE’s developmental system) as the second NXT Champion in history, he arrived on the main roster towards the end of 2012 and became one of the fastest rising stars throughout 2013. After being on the main roster for nearly a year, he won his first major championship when he became the Intercontinental Champion. Ever since losing the championship earlier this year, he has not gotten the opportunities that he deserves. This guy has too big of a future to be underused.
Xavier Woods
People may also know Xavier Woods as former TNA Superstar Consequences Creed. He achieved significant success in TNA as a former TNA World Tag Team Champion and by taking many of TNA’s top names to the limit in matches. After jumping ship to WWE under the name Xavier Woods and spending time on the developmental roster for a couple years, Xavier arrived on the main roster towards the end of 2013. In the beginning, he got the WWE Universe’s attention by teaming up with R-Truth and beating top tag teams like 3MB and Rybaxel, as well as getting numerous victories over juggernaut Brodus Clay. Eventually, after being used less and less by WWE, he convinced both Kofi Kingston and Big E to join him and “take” their opportunities. Despite weeks of making their agenda clear, we have not seen them take their agenda too much farther for quite a while. I think Xavier had the right idea by recruiting some underused superstars like him and deciding to “take” their opportunities; he should definitely keep this up because I think it will lead to great things for him and the guys he has recruited.
Zack Ryder
In 2011, Zack Ryder became a self-made superstar by starting his own YouTube show “Z! True Long Island Story”. Ryder won the WWE Universe over with this and they were demanding that Ryder be given an opportunity at the WWE United States Championship. After weeks and weeks of chanting “We Want Ryder! Woo Woo Woo!”, it finally paid off when Ryder won the U.S. Championship at the last WWE Pay-Per-View event of 2011. While Ryder would hold the championship for about a month, unfortunately, thanks to a brutal attack by Kane one week before his first defense of the championship, Ryder would go into the match less than 100% and go on to lose the title on an edition of Monday Night Raw in early 2012. After losing the championship, it was revealed later that same night by then-Interim Raw General Manager John Laurinaitis that Ryder was not medically cleared to compete. Though not entirely proven, many people believe that Laurinaitis had deliberately kept that information from Ryder prior to the match. While Ryder would go on to have a match on the card at WrestleMania 28 and get another opportunity at the U.S. Title, since then, he has not been given the fair amount of opportunities that he truly deserves. Bottom line, I truly believe that Ryder was screwed out of all the hard work and dedication that he had put in to getting to that very special moment in his career and WWE needs to give that opportunity back to him.
R-Truth
People may remember R-Truth having a past brief run with WWE in the early ‘00s under the name K-Kwik. After leaving WWE for TNA in 2002, he wrestled under names like K-Krush and Ron “The Truth” Killings. In addition to that, he also held the TNA World Heavyweight Championship on two occasions during his run with the company. After leaving TNA and returning to WWE in 2008, he became known as R-Truth. Since returning to WWE, R-Truth has proven that he has what it takes to become a World Champion in WWE as well. For example, he has held both the United States Championship and WWE Tag Team Championship, has gotten a one-on-one opportunity at the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and was in the main event at Survivor Series 2011. Since then, R-Truth has not been given these kinds of opportunities and WWE needs to wake up and realize that he should be getting more of those opportunities.
Sin Cara
Sin Cara is one of the greatest, if not THE greatest, high flyers in WWE today. He also owns numerous victories over former World Champion Alberto Del Rio. While he is currently a part of WWE’s main roster, he recently went down to NXT to become one half of the NXT Tag Team Champions. Since Sin Cara holds all these accolades, I figured he should be given a lot more opportunities with the main roster.
Conclusion
WWE needs to realize that the six men mentioned in this article include a guy who has held a World Championship from another wrestling company, guys who own one-on-one victories over former World Champions, guys who are just one step away from becoming a WWE Triple Crown Champion, guys who are underrated and guys who have potential and are not getting the opportunities to show it. Xavier Woods, Kofi Kingston and Big E have already formed an alliance in a crusade to “take” their opportunities and they should definitely step that up a notch. In addition to that, the other three men mentioned should join them in their crusade. Bottom line, WWE needs to stop holding these great talents back and give them the opportunities that they so richly deserve.
I particularly think Kofi Kingston is way overdue for the WWE Championship. He has unique talent that should get more recognition. from the WWE.
