First, Sasha Banks’ mystery tag team partner turned out to be Bayley making her debut on WWE’s main roster. They would then go on to defeat WWE Women’s Champion Charlotte & Dana Brooke. I had a feeling that Bayley would be the mystery partner. One question that remains is what show is Bayley on, now that both Raw and Smackdown Live have separate brands. Well, for at least one night, the WWE Universe got to witness the formation of a new tag team known as The Boss & Hug Connection (Sasha Banks & Bayley).
Also, during what was being dubbed the final confrontation between friends-turned-enemies Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens, I noticed that towards the end of the match, both Zayn and Owens appeared to be showing some sort of compassion towards one another. Although Zayn was victorious, I cannot help but wonder if not only the rivalry has been put to rest once and for all, but I am also wondering if the two will reconcile and become tag team partners, which means that Owens would turn face. Both men were drafted to Raw, so it will be interesting to see where things go from here.
Then, there was the long-awaited return of Randy Orton, who had been recovering from a shoulder injury for the past 9 months. He was the special guest on Chris Jericho’s Highlight Reel. After a few back-and-forth verbal jabs between Orton and Jericho, Orton showed him and the rest of the world that he has no ring rust when he nailed Jericho with his finishing maneuver, the RKO.
Finally, which show did all of the major championships end up on? The WWE Women’s Championship is on Raw, since its current holder Charlotte got drafted to Raw. It is the same case with the WWE Tag Team Championship, since The New Day (Xavier Woods, Kofi Kingston & Big E) was drafted to Raw as well. Raw’s Rusev successfully defended the United States Championship against Smackdown Live’s Zack Ryder. Smackdown Live’s The Miz defended the Intercontinental Championship against Raw’s Darren Young; both men were disqualified, so therefore, Miz is still the Intercontinental Champion. Smackdown Live’s Dean Ambrose successfully defended the WWE Championship against Raw’s Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins in a Triple Threat Match. The question now remains; what will Raw and Smackdown Live do about their respective championships that they are missing?
