As many people know by now, one of WWE’s most evil, if not the most evil, factions came to life about a year ago; that faction being The Authority, which is currently led by one of WWE’s Principal Owners Stephanie McMahon and her husband WWE Chief Operating Officer Triple H. Since then, numerous superstars have aligned themselves with The Authority, which included once-beloved superstars selling out. After seeing The Authority for a little more than a year now, I have put together pieces of the puzzle and realized that there are three notable sellouts that had and still do have similar agendas.
Randy Orton
Last year at WWE SummerSlam, after Daniel Bryan had defeated John Cena for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, in which Triple H was the special guest referee for that match, then-Money in the Bank contract holder Randy Orton came out. Then, out of nowhere, Triple H hits Daniel with his finishing maneuver, the Pedigree. Orton then cashes in his Money in the Bank contract for an opportunity at the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, Triple H appoints himself as special guest referee and the match is officially underway. Orton picks up Triple H’s scraps, pins Daniel and Triple H counts the 1-2-3 for the tainted victory. The following night on Raw, Randy Orton is declared the “Face” of WWE by WWE Chairman Vincent K. McMahon, who is no longer a member of The Authority; his daughter Stephanie and his son-in-law Triple H. Thus, The Authority is officially born that night.
Seth Rollins
Earlier this year, The Shield (Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins & Roman Reigns) had defeated Evolution (Triple H, Randy Orton & Batista) in a 6-Man No Holds Barred Elimination Tag Team Match. The following night on Raw, Batista quits WWE at the beginning of the program. Towards the end of the program, The Shield came out to address their victory over Evolution. Then, the two remaining members of Evolution come out to tell The Shield that despite their victory the previous night, there is always a “Plan B”. Seth Rollins then shocks the world by attacking his Shield cohorts with a steel chair, thus betraying them and aligning himself with both Evolution and The Authority. One month later, The Authority helped Rollins win the Money in the Bank contract. Since then, Rollins has been referred to by both Stephanie and Triple H as the “Future” of WWE.
Nikki Bella
About two months ago, Brie Bella went one-on-one with Stephanie McMahon at SummerSlam. Towards the end of the match, Brie’s identical twin sister Nikki shocked the world by attacking Brie and allowing Stephanie to get the victory; thus betraying her sister and aligning herself with The Authority. A few weeks later, Stephanie told Nikki that she is the “Face” of WWE’s Divas’ Division that she is looking for.
Conclusion
It is all coming together now, these three superstars sold out to The Authority because they were all promised something by them. The Authority promised to make Randy Orton the “Face” of WWE, Seth Rollins the “Future” of WWE and Nikki Bella the “Face” of WWE’s Divas’ Division. Stephanie and Triple H are all about greed and power and will use anybody to get what they desire. When are these three superstars going to realize that they are, respectively, the “Face” of WWE, the “Future” of WWE and the “Face” of WWE’s Divas’ Division for Stephanie and Triple H and not for themselves?
Nice summary to pill it all together. I think the Authority will get theirs. But it’s going to take the return of the chairman, Vincent McMahon.
