Impact Wrestling 2-28-13 Review

General Manager Hulk Hogan was absent from the show this week due to the attack from Aces & Eights the previous week and was at home recovering from his surgery. Also, both teams for the Lethal Lockdown Match at Lockdown are set. The Aces & Eights team consist of Team Captain and TNA Television Champion Devon, D.O.C., Mr. Anderson, Mike Knox, and Garett Bischoff. Team TNA consists of Team Captain and TNA Hall of Famer Sting, Samoa Joe, James Storm, Magnus, and Eric Young. Two more matches for Lockdown were also announced; TNA Knockout Women’s Champion Velvet Sky will defend her championship against Gail Kim and TNA World Tag Team Champions Bobby Roode and Austin Aries will defend their championships against Chavo Guerrero and Hernandez. Also, Kenny King defeated Rob Van Dam to become the new X Division Champion. It was also the return of TNA Gut Check. The two gut checkers for this week were Ivelisse Velez and Lei’d Tapa, who is the niece of wrestling legend The Barbarian. Ivelisse Velez got the victory, but was it enough to impress the Gut Check Judges enough for an opportunity to earn a TNA contract. Only one of these women will get that opportunity and that will be determined on next week’s Impact Wrestling. TNA cameras also showed footage from AJ Styles’ home in Gainesville, Georgia in an attempt to get an update on his status; however, AJ refused to comment and took off on his motorcycle. Therefore, it is still unknown when AJ will make his return. Robbie E also turned his back on his bouncer Rob Terry, thus turning Rob Terry into a face (good guy). Lastly, Kurt Angle hunted down Aces & Eights at their clubhouse and Kurt took out a couple of members before getting to the VP of the gang and not only taking him out, but unmasking him in the process. But before the world could see who he was, the rest of Aces & Eights took down Kurt Angle to end the program. Hopefully, next week on Impact Wrestling, we will find out the identity of the VP of Aces & Eights.
