Impact Wrestling 6-13-13: Who is the New Main Event Mafia?

The show began with General Manager Hulk Hogan telling everybody that after what had happened at the end of last week’s Impact Wrestling, Hulk gave her daughter and Knockouts Executive Brooke Hogan the night off. Hulk then went on to discuss the Bound For Glory Series; he announced that both Jeff Hardy and Bobby Roode had automatically been entered into the series, who both come out to the ring. The three men are then interrupted by Aces & Eights. TNA World Heavyweight Champion, President of The Aces & Eights, and Hulk’s estranged son-in-law Bully Ray, brings up the fact that not one member of Aces & Eights is entered into the Bound For Glory Series. Hulk then tells Bully that one member of Aces & Eights will end up qualifying by winning a Battle Royal that features only members of Aces & Eights later on in the show. Hulk also announced that next week on Impact Wrestling, it will be Open Fight Night, which allows anybody on the TNA roster to call out anybody and that person is required to fight. Hulk then said that the TNA Fans will get to vote on whether Jeff Hardy or Bobby Roode get to call someone out first. Also, there were more Bound For Glory Series Qualifying Matches. One was between Joseph Park and Coalition leader Crimson, with Park coming out on top. There was also a Four Corners’ Match between Brutus Magnus, Rob Terry, Kenny King, and Matt Morgan. While I am a fan of both Magnus and Rob Terry, I was rooting for Magnus in this one. In the end, it was Magnus who was victorious. In another qualifying match, there was a non-title tag team match between TNA World Tag Team Champions James Storm & Gunner against Bad Influence (Christopher Daniels & Frankie Kazarian). In the end, Daniels used one of the Tag Team Championship Belts on one of his opponents while the referee was distracted, which allowed Daniels to pick up the win for his team, thus entering both Daniels and Kazarian into the Bound For Glory Series. There was also a one-on-one match between TNA Knockout Women’s Tag Team Champion Eric Young (accompanied by his wife, Knockouts Referee, and the other half of the TNA Knockout Women’s Tag Team Champions One Dirty Bitch) and Austin Aries, with Aries coming out on top. Also, prior to the Battle Royal Match between members of Aces & Eights, Aces & Eights were backstage talking strategy for the match and Bully Ray asking his men if they agreed to “the plan”, which everybody did; however, D.O.C. seemed to reluctantly agree to it. As for the Battle Royal, throughout the entire match, Ken Anderson playfully eliminated everyone. This was apparently “the plan” that Bully Ray was referring to. However, when it came down to Anderson and D.O.C. as the final two, instead of sticking with “the plan”, D.O.C. chose to actually fight. In the end, it was Anderson who eliminated D.O.C. to earn the right to enter into the Bound For Glory Series. Later on, backstage, Bully Ray confronted D.O.C. about his actions, with D.O.C. responding by telling Bully Ray that all he did was step up like Bully had told his men to do in the past. While Bully didn’t disagree with that statement, he was still not happy with the fact that D.O.C. did not stick with “the plan”. D.O.C. then said that he would redeem himself by taking out AJ Styles with The Aces & Eights’ infamous hammer later on in AJ’s Bound For Glory Series Qualifying Main Event Match against soon-to-be TNA Hall of Famer Kurt Angle; Bully decided to give D.O.C. the opportunity. Also, Velvet Sky had an envelope that contained something to give to TNA Knockout Women’s Champion Mickie James. Velvet called out Mickie; after Mickie came out, she opened up the envelope and in it was a copy of a medical clearance by Velvet’s doctor to compete. Velvet then demanded that Mickie grant her the rematch for the championship she is supposed to get. Mickie responded by attacking Velvet’s previously injured knee. Mickie has been avoiding Velvet for the past few weeks, but now that Velvet is medically cleared, Mickie can no longer avoid her, she will have to defend her championship against Velvet. Also, TNA Hall of Famer Sting came out to discuss his future. He then dropped a bombshell by announcing that he will be putting together the new Main Event Mafia to stop Aces & Eights. The Main Event Mafia is a TNA faction from the past, which Sting was once a member of. Now, Sting is creating a new Main Event Mafia. The question is, who are the other members of this new Main Event Mafia going to be besides Sting? Also, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson confronted Kurt Angle backstage about what Angle had said to him the previous week on Impact Wrestling. Angle responded by telling Jackson that people don’t become huge wrestling stars overnight and that they have to work their way up. Finally, in the main event between Angle and Styles, at one point in the match, Aces & Eights interfered and unintentionally assisted AJ in getting the victory, thus giving AJ the right to enter the Bound For Glory Series. After AJ took off, Aces & Eights then began to attack Angle. Fortunately, Rampage Jackson came out with a chain in hand to run Aces & Eights off. It would seem that Jackson has decided to take Angle’s advice from earlier. How will Angle react to Jackson coming to his aid?
