At Extreme Rules, The Shield (Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, & Roman Reigns) conquered and won gold. First, it was Ambrose who beat Kofi Kingston for the United States Championship. Despite the fact that the other two members of The Shield accompanied Ambrose, they did not play any role whatsoever in Ambrose winning the championship. Ambrose won the championship fair and square, so the entire world has no choice but to give the devil his due. Also, it was the other two Shield members (Rollins & Reigns) who won the WWE Tag Team Championship from Team Hell No (Kane & Daniel Bryan) in a Tornado Tag Team Match. Also, the “I Quit” Match between Alberto Del Rio (accompanied by his personal ring announcer Ricardo Rodriguez) and Jack Swagger (accompanied by Zeb Colter) to determine the #1 contender to Dolph Ziggler’s World Heavyweight Championship was a controversial one. It all started when Colter snatched the towel that was in possession of Rodriguez and threw it in the ring, trying to deceive referee Mike Chioda into thinking that Rodriguez had thrown in the towel for Del Rio. At first, Colter had succeeded in pulling off the ruse when Chioda declared Swagger the winner. However, referee Rod Zapata came out to show Chioda an instant replay of what had really happened. After viewing the replay, Chioda ordered for the match to be restarted. In the end, Del Rio was able to force Swagger to utter the words “I Quit” to get the victory and become #1 contender to Ziggler’s championship. I think it was great that an instant replay was shown of what had really happened, WWE, as well as other wrestling companies, should use instant replay if controversy surrounds a match. Also, WWE Chief Operating Officer Triple H went one-on-one with Brock Lesnar (accompanied by Paul Heyman) in a Steel Cage Match. Thanks to some interference from Heyman, Lesnar was able to get the victory. Finally, John Cena defened his WWE Championship against Ryback in a Last Man Standing Match. In the end, it was Ryback who speared Cena right through the stage setting wall, taking both men out of commission and the referee ruling the match a no contest; therefore, still WWE Champion, John Cena. Both men were attended to after the match. While Ryback was helped up by WWE officials, Cena was on his way to being stretchered out of the arena; however, just as Cena was about to be put inside the ambulance, Cena got up from the stretcher and refused to go to the hospital. Cena was able to walk on his own power. What condition will either Cena or Ryback be in? Tune into Raw tonight at 8/7ct on USA Network to find out.
