Impact Wrestling 5-16-13: Sting’s Last World Championship Opportunity?

The Show began with General Manager Hulk Hogan coming out to call out Abyss and thank him for returning last week and aiding TNA in the war against Aces & Eights; however, Abyss’ brother Joseph Park came out instead. Park then tells Hogan how ecstatic he is that his brother is back because he has been looking for him for a long time. They then get interrupted by Aces & Eights members TNA Television Champion Devon & D’Lo Brown. Park then goes on to tell Devon that he has had of enough of The Aces & Eights’ actions and challenges Devon to a match. Devon responds by telling Park that until he proves something to him, he refuses to face him. D’Lo then offers to fight Park and prove a point so that he can earn back his Aces & Eights vest. Hogan then decides to make the match official for the evening and says that if Park wins, then he’ll get to face Devon in a non-title match at the upcoming Slammiversary Pay-Per-View event. Also, TNA Knockouts Executive Brooke Hogan told Mickie James that she will get an opportunity at Velvet Sky’s TNA Knockout Women’s Championship next week on Impact Wrestling. While I am a fan of both of these women, I will be rooting for Velvet. Also, former TNA Gut Check contestants Christian York and Jay Bradley went one-on-one to determine who would advance to earn an opportunity to earn a spot in the Bound For Glory Series. In the end, it was Bradley who came out on top. Also, Kurt Angle is scheduled to go one-on-one with AJ Styles at Slammiversary, but Angle didn’t want to wait until Slammiversary and called out AJ. Instead, he got Aces & Eights member Ken Anderson. Anderson then told Angle and the rest of the world that next week on Impact Wrestling, it will be Aces & Eights’ official patching-in of AJ. Angle then responds by taking it to Anderson. After Angle knocks Anderson out of the ring, AJ then emerges and takes Angle out by hitting him with an enziguri kick to the back of the head. Is it really true, is AJ actually going to join Aces & Eights? This would certainly be bad news for TNA? Also, X Division Champion Kenny King defended against both Chris Sabin and Petey Williams in a Three-Way X Division Match. While I am a fan of both Sabin and Williams, I was rooting for Sabin. In the end, it was King who pinned Williams to retain; therfore, since Williams was the one who got pinned, he has to go to the back of the line for another opportunity at the championship, while Sabin will get to be in the next Three-Way X Division Championship Match. Also, James Storm had revealed that Hulk Hogan had made a Fatal 4-Way TNA World Tag Team Championship Match for Slammiversary between Champions Chavo Guerrero, Jr. & Shawn Hernandez, Bobby Roode & Austin Aries, Bad Influence (Christopher Daniels & Frankie Kazarian), and James Storm and a partner of his choosing. Of course the question is, who will Storm choose as his partner. Also, in the match between Joseph Park and D’Lo Brown, at one point, D’Lo ended up busting Park open. Then, like we have seen in the past, after Park saw the sight of his own blood, he went ballistic and ended up beating D’Lo, thus earning his match with Devon at Slammiversary. Then, as we have also seen in the past, Park comes out of his mental state and wonders what had just happened. Also, it was revealed in a video vignette that Suicide will be making his long-awaited return next week on Impact Wrestling. Finally, it was the official contract signing between TNA World Heavyweight Champion and President of Aces & Eights Bully Ray and the #1 contender TNA Hall of Famer Sting for their championship match at Slammiversary. Hulk Hogan was down at the entrance way witnessing the whole thing. Sting then went on to tell Bully that he wants their match to be a No Holds Barred Match. Bully responded by telling Sting that he would agree to the stipulation on one condition, and that’s if Sting loses at Slammiversary, he can never get another opportunity at the TNA World Heavyweight Championship for the rest of his career. While Hogan discouraged Sting to agree to it, Sting went ahead and agreed to it anyway. The program ended with Sting and Bully slugging it out.
