The show began with Paul Heyman in the ring telling everybody that he was there on behalf of his client Brock Lesnar to await WWE Chief Operating Officer Triple H’s response to Lesnar’s challenge to Triple H in a Steel Cage Match at the upcoming pay-per-view event, Extreme Rules. Heyman then informed the WWE Universe that he had received a text from Triple H saying that he wasn’t going to be at Raw this night due to the injuries to his arm he is recovering from and that he would give Lesnar his answer next week on Raw. However, Triple H’s music hit and out comes Triple H. Triple H then tells Heyman that the text he sent him was a lie. He then tells Heyman to tell Lesnar that he accepts his challenge at Extreme Rules and then hits Heyman with his signature move, the Pedigree. Also, Raw Managing Supervisor Vickie Guerrero and her assistant Brad Maddox informed World Heavyweight Champion Dolph Ziggler that if Chris Jericho wins in his non-title match against Ziggler, then Jericho will be added to the World Heavyweight Championship Match at Extreme Rules between champion Ziggler, Alberto Del Rio, and Jack Swagger, thus becoming a Fatal 4-Way Match. As for the match between Jericho and Ziggler, while Jericho had Ziggler locked in his submission hold, the Walls of Jericho, Fandango’s music then hit and it distracted Jericho enough for Ziggler to get to the ring ropes to force the hold to be broken. With Jericho still distracted, Ziggler takes advantage and hits Jericho with his signature maneuver, the Zig Zag to get the pin and the win. Therefore, the World Heavyweight Championship Match at Extreme Rules remains a Triple Threat Match. Also, while WWE Tag Team Champions Team Hell No (Kane & Daniel Bryan) were backstage talking strategies for their upcoming main event Six-Man Tag Team match teaming with The Undertaker against The Shield (Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, & Roman Reigns), Team Hell No is attacked by guys who were presumably The Shield. As for the Six-Man Tag Team Match, it was uncertain whether or not Team Hell No would be able to make it out for the match. That question was answered once Team Hell No came out to even the odds for The Undertaker. In the end, it was The Shield who got the victory, thus remaining undefeated as a trio. Also, England’s own William Regal went one-on-one with Fandango (accompanied by his dance partner Summer Rae). Fandango was victorious over Regal and just as Fandango and Summer Rae made their way back towards the entrance ramp, Chris Jericho comes out of nowhere and knocks Fandango off the stage, retaliating for Fandango costing him his opportunity at the World Heavyweight Championship earlier in the night. Then, Jericho extends his hand to Summer Rae. Summer Rae, feeling like she didn’t have much of a choice, takes Jericho’s hand and Jericho then relives his days on ABC Show Dancing With the Stars by tangoing with Summer, supposedly one-upping Fandango. Also, in the second main event of the evening, it was a Divas Battle Royal to determine the #1 contender to Kaitlyn’s WWE Divas Championship. The participants in the battle royal were England Native Layla, one-half of The Funkadactyls, Naomi; Aksana, Tamina Snuka, and AJ Lee. At one point in the match, AJ Lee is knocked out by a super kick from Tamina Snuka and is seemingly out cold throughout most of the match. In the end, it came down to Layla and the still-seemingly-unconscious AJ. Just as Layla was trying to lift AJ’s dead weight and toss her out of the ring for the final elimination, AJ then springs to life out of nowhere and tosses Layla from the ring, thus eliminating her and becoming the #1 contender to the WWE Divas Championship. Finally, Ryback confronts the General Manager of Saturday Morning Slam and WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley. Mick Foley tries to talk some sense into Ryback about Ryback’s recent actions, but to no avail. Then, WWE Champion John Cena comes out to confront Ryback. Before anything could happen between the two, The Shield then arrives. Cena decides to leave Ryback to The Shield, like Ryback did Cena last week on Raw, but just as The Shield begins attacking Ryback, Cena comes in with a chair in hand and uses it to clear The Shield from the ring. Then, after a brief stare-down between Cena and Ryback, Cena then hits Ryback with his signature maneuver, the Attitude Adjustment to end the program. At Extreme Rules, Cena will defend his championship against Ryback.
