Impact Wrestling 4-11-13: Bully Ray Retains, Jeff Hardy Injured

The show began with TNA World Tag Team Champions Bobby Roode & Austin Aries defending against Chavo Guerrero & Hernandez in a 2-Out-of-3 Falls Match and if Chavo & Hernandez lost, they could never team together again in TNA. The champs jumped their challengers before the match even started. Once the match started, the champs were able to get the easy first fall. Fortunately, Chavo was able to rally back and get the second fall for his team. In the end, the third and final fall went to Chavo & Hernandez, thus becoming the new champions and remaining a team. Also, Joseph Park attempted to use his legal actions as a lawyer to present a marriage annulment for Knockouts Executive Brooke Hogan and her estranged husband TNA World Heavyweight Champion and President of Aces & Eights Bully Ray. However, TNA Television Champion and Aces & Eights member Devon came out and tore up the marriage annulment, advised Joseph not to get involved in the Aces & Eights family business, and knocked out Joseph with a chain. Also, Brooke Hogan informed Joey Ryan that she was disgusted by his actions as Knockouts Referee last week and that he not only has been relieved of his duties in that roll, but that Brooke’s father and General Manager Hulk Hogan booked him in a match for the night. Speaking of the knockouts, Taryn Terrell went one-on-one with Gail Kim and Brooke Hogan had named ODB as the special guest referee for the match. Gail tried to walk out of the match, but ODB didn’t allow it. At one point in the match, Gail rolls up Taryn for a pinfall and hooks Taryn’s trunks for added leverage, but ODB catches her. While Gail takes issue with this, Taryn gives Gail a roll-up pinfall of her own and gets the pin and the win. Also, Brooke Tessmacher will go one-on-one with Mickie James to determine the #1 contender to Velvet Sky’s TNA Knockout Women’s Championship. Also, Hulk Hogan called out AJ Styles for his answer on whether he stands with TNA or Aces & Eights. AJ tells Hogan that he doesn’t respond well to ultimatums. Then, James Storm comes out and tells AJ that he’s not out there to give any ultimatums, he’s out there to fight AJ. Then, Bad Influence (Christopher Daniels & Kazarian) come out and tell AJ to forget about joining “Hogan’s Bandwagon” or Aces & Eights and to join them instead. AJ says nothing and walks off. Hogan then informs AJ that since he hasn’t made a decision, he’ll make a decision for him. That decision is that next week on Impact Wrestling, AJ will go one-on-one with James Storm. Also, Kurt Angle announced backstage that he had gone to Hulk Hogan and requested a 2-on-1 Handicap Match against Aces & Eights members Garett Bischoff & Wes Brisco and that the match will take place next week on Impact Wrestling. Also, the opponent that Hulk Hogan named for Joey Ryan was Rob Terry with Terry dominating Joey and coming out on top. Also, “Gut Check” contestants Magno and Adam Pearce learned their fates. First, the “Gut Check” Judges (Bruce Prichard, Al Snow, & OVW Owner “Dangerous” Danny Davis) decided who would move on to get the opportunity to earn a TNA contract. Adam Pearce was eliminated and Magno moved on to get the opportunity at the contract. As for the judges’ decisions, Magno ended up getting two straight “no” answers from two of the judges, thus not getting the contract or a job with TNA altogether. Finally, before the main event of the night, Hulk Hogan told his daughter Brooke that he would be sitting up in the skybox during the match. Brooke then told her father that she wanted to be front-row in the crowd so that she could see the look on her estranged husband’s face when he loses his championship and realize that he had messed up. It was a Full Metal Mayhem TNA World Heavyweight Championship Match between champion Bully Ray and challenger Jeff Hardy. The key of the match was to climb the ladder and grab the championship. In the end, TNA commentator and Aces & Eights member Taz took full advantage of the no countouts and no disqualifications rule and handed Bully Ray the hammer from the ringside bell keeper. Then, just as Hardy was on the verge of grabbing the championship, Bully quickly ascended the other end of the ladder and nailed Hardy in the head with the hammer knocking Hardy off the ladder and allowing Bully to grab his championship and retain. The hammer shot ended up injuring Hardy and he had to be hulled out of the arena in an ambulance. I’ve stated before that I’m sick and tired of listening to Taz on commentary. After his actions this week, if this doesn’t get him kicked off commentary, then I don’t know what the hell will. Bottom line, it needs to happen.
