My Thoughts on WWE Fastlane

Roman Reigns Fastlane

Fastlane Kickoff

MizTv with Special Guest Paul Heyman

Before The Miz introduced his special guest, he had his personal assistant Damien Mizdow go sit in the corner of the ring. Once Heyman came out, he told Miz that he did not like the way that Mizdow was looking at him, so Miz had Mizdow turn around and face the corner of the ring. Heyman then said that neither Roman Reigns nor Daniel Bryan will have what it takes to beat Heyman’s client and current WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 31. How much longer is Mizdow going to put up with this crap from Miz? When is Mizdow going to realize that he does not need Miz? Mizdow is more than capable of branching out on his own. He needs to take a stand against Miz and turn face.

6-Man Tag Team Match

The Authority (WWE Director of Operations Kane, Mr. Money in the Bank Seth Rollins (w/J & J Security (Joey Mercury & Jamie Noble) & Big Show def. Dolph Ziggler, Ryback & Erick Rowan

This match ended in controversy when Big Show, who was not the legal man, KO Punched Dolph Ziggler behind the referee’s back and Seth Rollins capitalized and hit Ziggler with a Curb Stomp to get the victory for his team. After the match, The Authority continued to beat down on their three defeated adversaries. Suddenly, some familiar theme music started playing and it was none other than the return of Randy Orton, who had been betrayed and taken out by The Authority months ago. Orton had his sights specifically on Rollins, who had taken him out of action with a Curb Stomp to the steel steps. While Orton hit just about every other Authority member with an RKO, he was unable to get Rollins who had managed to escape The Viper’s wrath. I hope that Orton and Rollins end up facing one another at WrestleMania 31.

Half-Brother vs. Half-Brother Match

Goldust def. Stardust

Less than a week ago on Raw, Stardust (aka Cody Rhodes) not only turned his back on his brother Goldust (aka Dustin Rhodes), but he also turned his back on the entire Rhodes family and declared that “Cody is dead”. At Fastlane, the brothers’ WWE Hall of Fame father Dusty Rhodes had a pep talk with Goldust prior to the match telling him not to hurt Stardust too badly. Goldust told his father that he was going to beat Stardust to the point where not only he will bring Cody back, but get rid of Stardust once and for all as well. In the end, Goldust ended up rolling up his brother to get a questionable pinfall victory. Later on backstage, as Dusty and Goldust were talking, Stardust ambushes his brother out of nowhere and takes him out. Stardust then told his father that he was the one that “killed Cody Rhodes”. It is definitely a horrible situation that the Rhodes family is going through right now. It is pretty clear that Stardust has taken over the life of Cody Rhodes. Perhaps Stardust’s wife and Smackdown ring announcer Eden could talk some sense into him?

WWE Tag Team Championship Match

Cesaro & Tyson Kidd (w/Natalya) def. The Usos (Jimmy & Jey) (w/Naomi) to become the new WWE Tag Team Champions

After weeks of these two teams going at it with each other, it finally came down to The Usos putting their Tag Team Championship on the line at Fastlane. In the end, Cesaro & Kidd walked out as the new WWE Tag Team Champions, making Kidd a 3-time Tag Team Champion and making Cesaro one for the first time in his WWE career. After this taking place at Fastlane and after Kalisto making his debut on the main roster this past week, I have an idea for a WWE Tag Team Championship Match for WrestleMania 31. I want to see Cesaro & Kidd defend their newly-won championship against The Lucha Dragons (Sin Cara & Kalisto), The Usos and The Ascension (Konnor & Viktor) in a Fatal 4-Way Tag Team Match.

Sting and WWE Chief Operating Officer Triple H Come Face-to-Face

After Sting had thwarted The Authority’s plans on two separate occasions, Triple H issued a face-to-face challenge to Sting at Fastlane, which he had accepted. Once they came face-to-face, Triple H had given Sting one opportunity to walk away from WWE for good. After Sting refused, Triple H tried to take a cheap shot at Sting, but Sting saw it coming and the brawl was on between the two icons. After Triple H had gotten the upper hand, he grabbed his signature weapon, the sledgehammer; however, when he was about to use it, Sting stopped Triple H in his tracks with his signature weapon, the baseball bat. Sting then backed Triple H into the corner of the ring, forcing him to drop his sledgehammer. Sting then pointed his bat at the WrestleMania 31 logo hanging high above the arena, making it clear that he wants Triple H at WrestleMania. After Triple H accepted, Sting was about to leave the ring; however, Triple H tried to jump him from behind, but Sting caught him with the baseball bat and then hit Triple H with a Scorpion Death Drop. Later on in the show, the match was made official for WrestleMania. I just knew that these two would end up having a match at WrestleMania 31 and I think there are others that thought the same thing as well. I also hope that a stipulation is added that involves The Authority being put out of power for good.

WWE Divas Championship Match

Nikki Bella (c) (w/Brie Bella) def. Paige

This match ended in controversy as Nikki had to resort to rolling up Paige and hooking her trunks to get the pin and the win to retain her championship. Now that we know that Nikki is still champion, like I’ve said before and I’ll say again, Brie needs to make her long overdue stand against her evil sister. Prior to The Bellas’ reunion this past November, Nikki had mistreated Brie for the past few months and Nikki has shown no indications of regret ever since. Brie needs to turn face and fight her sister at WrestleMania 31 for the Divas Championship; however, there is also part of me that wants to see Naomi become WWE Divas Champion for the first time in her career. Therefore, it could be a Triple Threat Match between champion Nikki Bella and challengers Naomi and Brie Bella.

Intercontinental Championship Match

Bad News Barrett (c) won his match against Dean Ambrose via disqualification

Towards the end of the match, Barrett was looking to grab his championship belt and walk out on the match, since a championship cannot change hands via count-out. Ambrose, however, did not allow that to happen. In the end, as Barrett tried to keep his distance from Ambrose, Ambrose started pummeling away on Barrett to the point where the referee counted to five and disqualified Ambrose. Feeling ripped off, Ambrose not only attacked Barrett after the match, but also took off with his IC Championship belt as well. Later on, Ambrose explained that Barrett is an embarrassment to all the legends that have held the championship; therefore, he is not worthy of wearing the championship. What I think Ambrose should do is agree to return the belt to Barrett on the condition that he gives him a rematch for the championship, but only this time, it would be a Falls Count Anywhere Match. This way, Barrett would have nowhere to run and nowhere to hide.

Bray Wyatt Issues a WrestleMania 31 Challenge to The Undertaker

It was the return of The Druids and we all thought it was the return of The Undertaker as well; however, when the casket that The Druids brought out opened, it was not The Undertaker who emerged, but instead, it was Bray Wyatt. This of course means that The Druids have turned on The Undertaker and turned heel. Bray Wyatt then went on to challenge The Undertaker to a match at WrestleMania 31. Seeing as Bray made it personal by turning The Druids against him, I am positive that The Undertaker will definitely accept Bray’s challenge. This is a match that I was hoping would happen at WreslteMania 31.

United States Championship Match

Rusev (c) (w/Lana) def. John Cena

With Rusev having yet to be pinned/submitted on the main roster, Rusev faced his toughest challenge to date in the form of the face of WWE, John Cena, at Fastlane. In the end, it was clear that both Rusev and Lana felt that Rusev could not beat Cena because for the first time, Rusev actually had to resort to Lana distracting the referee while he delivered a low blow to Cena. Rusev then superkicked Cena in the face and then locked him in the Accolade causing Cena to pass out, win the match and retain his championship. While part of me wanted to see Cena conquer Rusev, there is also part of me that is glad that Ryback still has an opportunity to be the first to conquer Rusev and win his first-ever championship from WWE at WrestleMania 31; I sure hope this ends up happening because Ryback is way overdue for a championship reign.

Winner Faces the WWE World Heavyweight Champion at WrestleMania 31

Roman Reigns def. Daniel Bryan

Two fan favorites fought in an intense encounter at Fastlane to earn an opportunity at the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at the Grandest Stage of Them All. While there was part of me that wanted to see Daniel Bryan go on to WrestleMania and win back the championship that he was recently stripped of and never lost, there was also part of me that wanted to see Roman Reigns go on to WrestleMania and become a World Champion for the first time in his career. In the end, it was Roman Reigns who came out on top. After the match, Bryan showed some class and shook the better man’s hand. So, the main event for WrestleMania 31 will be WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar defending against challenger Roman Reigns. Unless Mr. Money in the Bank Seth Rollins does something to change that, this main event will remain intact.
