Introduction
This week, I was in attendance for both WWE Main Event and Smackdown, which took place at the Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Before both events got underway, there was a bonus match between current rivals Sin Cara and Curtis Axel. These two rivals have had a series of matches against one another as of late and Sin Cara has come out victorious every single time, including this one.
Main Event
The first event of the night was Main Event. There was one backstage segment that I found pretty hilarious. Paige seemed to be impressed with how good Erick Rowan seems to be at playing chess; it was recently learned that Rowan has a pretty high IQ. Titus O’Neil then approached Rowan and did not seem impressed. Rowan then challenged Titus to play him in a game; after Titus made a move he said “King Me!” Apparently, Titus was not aware of the fact that that rule only applies to checkers and not chess. After Titus knocked over the chess pieces and walked off in a fit of rage, Rowan then picked up a piece and said “Checkmate!” Later on in the main event between Rowan and Kane, Titus joined commentary with Michael Cole and Byron Saxton at ringside during the match. Another thing that I found funny was when the match spilled out at ringside. Rowan bounced Kane’s head off the announce desk, which accidentally caused a couple of beverages to spill all over Titus. In the end, it was Kane who came out victorious.
Smackdown
This edition of Smackdown was not just any Smackdown, it was SuperSmackdown Live. This means that instead of taping Smackdown on Tuesday and then showing it on television on Friday like WWE normally does, Smackdown aired live on Tuesday instead. I have attended many Smackdown shows before, but I believe this is the first time that I have ever attended a SuperSmackdown LIVE. One awesome and unexpected thing that happened was when Erick Rowan performed a splash off the top rope onto The Miz. Erick Rowan weighs in at 315 Ibs, which is what made it so awesome. Another cool thing that happened was an extra main event match between Dean Ambrose and Bray Wyatt after the show went off the air. Dean Ambrose got the win via disqualification, but he was the one standing tall after their post-match brawl.
Conclusion
This just goes to show you, you never know what will happen when you attend a WWE live event because anything can happen. So, whenever a WWE live event comes to a town near you, you should most definitely take the opportunity to get tickets to the event. You can tune into Main Event every Tuesday at 8/7 CT on WWE Network and Smackdown every Friday at 8/7 CT on SyFy; however, beginning January 15, 2015, Smackdown will be moving to Thursdays at 8/7 CT on SyFy.
