The theme for this edition of NXT was “Clash of Champions”. There were four championships on the line. The first match was for the United States Championship. It was announced on the bottom of the NXT screen that this match was taped several weeks ago, meaning that Antonio Cesaro was the champion at the time it was taped, but since then, Kofi Kingston had beaten Cesaro for the championship on Raw. Therefore, we already knew Cesaro was going to retain. As for the match, Cesaro defended against NXT Tag Team Champion Adrian Neville. After back-and-forth action between the two, it was Cesaro who hit Neville with his signature maneuver, the Neutralizer, to get the pin and the win to retain his championship. The next championship match was for the WWE Divas Championship with Kaitlyn defending against former BFF AJ Lee. In the end, Kaitlyn hit AJ with her signature maneuver, the Spear, to get the victory and retain. While AJ may have come up short in this bout, she did win a Divas Battle Royal on Raw this past Monday to earn an opportunity at the Divas Championship, so she will be getting another opportunity at the championship in the near future. The next match was for the NXT Championship with “The Master of the Five Count” Big E Langston defending against the Assistant to the Raw Managing Supervisor (Vickie Guerrero) Brad Maddox. I am not a fan of either one of these guys and I wasn’t sure who to root against in this one. Big E ended up making short work of Maddox and retained his championship. After the match, Big E not once, but twice hit Maddox with his signature maneuver, the Big Ending, and then pinned him and counted to five, proving once again why he is called The Master of the Five Count. Also, backstage interviewer Tony Dawson had revealed that Chris Jericho will be competing next week on NXT. Tony then brought Jericho in to interview him and Jericho said that NXT Commissioner and WWE Hall of Famer Dusty Rhodes told him that he could choose his opponent. Then, Bray Wyatt comes in and interrupts Jericho, offering him a membership of The Wyatt Family, which consists of Bray Wyatt himself, Luke Harper, & Erick Rowan. Jericho takes exception to Wyatt’s interruption and chooses him as his opponent next week on NXT. Jericho then told Wyatt that if he can beat Jericho next week, then Jericho will join The Wyatt Family. Therefore, this match is a must-win situation for Jericho. Finally, in the main event, Intercontinental Champion Wade Barrett defended against Bo Dallas. Dallas took Barrett to the limit, but in the end, it was Barrett who hit Dallas with his signature maneuver, the Bull Hammer Elbow, to get the pin and the win to retain his championship to end the program. I would also like to point that there was one match that I thought was supposed to happen this week on NXT, but didn’t; Paige was supposed to go one-on-one with Summer Rae. Well, perhaps the match will happen next week on NXT? I certainly hope so.
