The show started out backstage with NXT General Manager and WWE Hall of Famer Dusty Rhodes talking with Bo Dallas. All of sudden, Corey Graves walks in with Big E Langston’s NXT Championship intact. He Reluctantly hands the belt over to Dusty Rhodes, who is obviously intending to return it to it’s current owner. Then, Corey asks why Bo Dallas is there and Dusty responds by saying that Bo is there because of his recent accomplishments over current Intercontinental Champion Wade Barrett. Corey Graves then tells dusty that he should be NXT Champion. Once Dusty hears this, he makes a no. 1 contenders triple threat match between Corey Graves, Conor O’Brian, and Bo Dallas in the main event of the evening, the winner gets a shot at Big E Langston’s championship. Later on in the program, backstage announcer Renee Young reports that Bo Dallas was mysteriously attacked and was not able to compete. Therefore, the triple threat match turned into a one-on-one match. Before the match could decide the winner, out of nowhere comes The Shield and attacks both competitors, leaving no no. 1 contender to the championship in the end. Personally, I have mixed emotions about that outcome. On one hand, The Shield disrupted an important match, on the other hand, I’m glad that neither Conor O’Brian nor Corey Graves became no. 1 contender because I don’t like either one of them. As far as who attacked Bo Dallas, I suspect it was either Corey Graves, Conor O’Brian, or The Shield. Lastly, I wonder (and hope) if the outcome of that match means that Bo Dallas will get the opportunity he was robbed of that night.
