My Hopes/Predictions for WWE Fastlane 2016

WWE Fastlane 2016

Kickoff Match

2-Out-of-3 Falls United States Championship Match

Kalisto (c) vs. Alberto Del Rio

This rivalry between two of Mexico’s greatest exports all started when Kalisto pulled off one of the biggest upsets in history and beat Del Rio for the U.S. Championship. Three days later, thanks to an assist from his fellow League of Nations cohort Bad News Barrett, Del Rio regained the championship from Kalisto. Last month at Royal Rumble, Kalisto regained the championship from Del Rio. At Fastlane, this rivalry will be taken to a new level when they face each other in a 2-Out-of-3 Falls Match. I think that Kalisto will beat Del Rio in two straight falls, retain his championship and send Del Rio to the back of the line.

Pay-Per-View Segment/Matches

The Cutting Edge Peep Show (hosted by E & C (WWE Hall of Famer Edge & Christian) will feature Special Guests WWE Tag Team Champions The New Day (Xavier Woods, Kofi Kingston & Big E)

For the first time in awhile, E & C will host another edition of their talk show segment “The Cutting Edge Peep Show”. Their special guests will be none other than the WWE Tag Team Champions The New Day. Knowing the history of antics that the WWE Universe has seen out of these two respective teams, I think that they can expect a lot of laughs coming out of this.

Becky Lynch & Sasha Banks vs. Team B.A.D. (Naomi & Tamina)

Recently, Sasha Banks proclaimed that she would be branching out on her own. Her then-Team B.A.D. cohorts Naomi & Tamina seemed to be alright with Team B.A.D. and Sasha going their separate ways. They decided to be a trio for one last night when Becky Lynch went one-on-one in a match against Sasha with Team B.A.D. in her corner. At one point during the match when Becky was outside of the ring, Naomi & Tamina attempted to interfere; however, Sasha came out of the ring and prevented the interference and told Team B.A.D. that she had things under control and that they did not need to get involved. When Sasha tried to get back into the ring, Naomi & Tamina grabbed Sasha and started to beat her down, thus turning on Sasha in the process. This also marked Sasha turning face. Becky then came to the aid of Sasha and the two fought off Team B.A.D. In the following weeks, Becky and Sasha, who do not have a friendship with one another, reluctantly agreed to form an alliance against mutual enemies Team B.A.D. The two remaining members of Team B.A.D. are not only a cohesive unit, but also family as well (e.g., Naomi is the wife of Jimmy Uso, who is the second cousin of Tamina). Becky & Sasha on the other hand have no special bond, other than their mutual disdain towards Team B.A.D. While Becky & Sasha have been allies in the past during their days at WWE’s Developmental System NXT, things have changed since that time. Despite all this, I think that Sasha & Becky will be able to co-exist and knock off Team B.A.D. at Fastlane.

6-Man Tag Team Match

Ryback, Big Show & Kane vs. The Wyatt Family (Luke Harper, Braun Strowman & Erick Rowan)

The Wyatt Family (Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper, Braun Strowman & Erick Rowan) have made it their mission to take down all of WWE’s titans. Their first three targets were Ryback, Big Show & Kane. The Wyatt Family knew that they could easily take the three titans out one-by-one, but once the three titans came together and formed an alliance, it was not that easy for The Wyatt Family anymore. Come Fastlane, I do not think that things will get any easier for The Wyatt Family when Ryback, Big Show & Kane knock off Harper, Strowman & Rowan.

WWE Divas Championship Match

Charlotte (c) vs. Brie Bella

Recently, Brie beat Charlotte in a non-title match to earn the right to face Charlotte for her championship. In the weeks that followed, Brie’s husband Daniel Bryan announced his retirement as a competitor due to medical reasons. Charlotte then took it upon herself to make derogatory remarks about Brie’s family. I definitely believe that Charlotte is doing this because she does not have the guts to face Brie’s threat towards her championship reign. At Fastlane, whether Charlotte likes it or not, she is not only going to face that threat, but she is also going to lose her championship and Brie will not only defend the honor of her family, but she will also become a 2-time WWE Divas Champion in the process.

AJ Styles vs. Chris Jericho

After making his WWE debut at Royal Rumble last month, AJ Styles beat Chris Jericho the following night on Monday Night Raw. One week later on Thursday Night Smackdown, the two squared off once more, but this time it was Jericho who came out on top. At Fastlane, it will be the rubber match when these two great superstars face each other one more time. With all due respect to Jericho, I will be pulling for Styles to break the tie between the two when he knocks off Jericho for a second time.

Intercontinental Championship Match

Kevin Owens (c) vs. Dolph Ziggler

Recently, Kevin Owens became a 2-time Intercontinental Champion. Minutes after, he was challenged by Ziggler, but Owens declined. WWE officials, however, overruled Owens’ declination and made the championship match official for Fastlane. At Fastlane, I think that Ziggler will once again beat Owens and become a 5-time Intercontinental Champion in his native town of Cleveland, Ohio.

Triple Threat #1 Contenders’ Match

Dean Ambrose vs. Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar

At this year’s Royal Rumble, WWE Chief Operating Officer Triple H not only won the Royal Rumble Match, but also won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship as well. Now, Triple H will go on to defend the championship in the main event of WrestleMania 32. The question is, however, who will Triple H defend against? At Fastlane, there will be a Triple Threat Match between Ambrose, Reigns and Lesnar with the winner earning the right to face Triple H for his championship at WrestleMania. All three of these men make great cases to being the one to challenge for the championship at WrestleMania. Lesnar got screwed out of winning the Rumble Match when he got eliminated by three guys that he had actually eliminated earlier in the match, Reigns was the defending Champion going into the match and Ambrose was the last man eliminated from the match. I hope that Ambrose comes out as the #1 contender to the WWE World Heavyweight Championship since he has never held a World Championship ever in his career. As long as Lesnar does not become the #1 contender, I will be satisfied.
