NXT Has Made a Huge Impact in WWE

NXT_Wrestling

Whether it was the original version of NXT where an NXT Rookie was paired with a WWE Pro or NXT the current developmental system of WWE, many of today’s WWE Superstars on the main roster have come out of NXT. Some of these superstars have made it to the top, some have made a huge impact and some still have yet to make their presence felt. I am very confident that there will be many more superstars to come out of NXT in the near future.

NXT Alumni

The following superstars listed below have managed to land spots on the main roster. Some have gone on to become top stars, some are still working their way to the top and some even still spend part of their time down at NXT.

WWE Smackdown 6-21-13: Daniel Bryan Wins, But Is Not Happy

The show began with Daniel Bryan addressing his match being stopped on Raw a few nights ago due to suffering an injury that didn’t allow him to continue. Bryan has been obsessed with proving to everybody that he is not the “weak link”. After Randy Orton came out to tell Bryan that when helped him to his feet after their match on Raw and embraced him, that he respects Bryan for his guts and determination. Instead, Bryan took that sportsmanship as pity and was determined to prove himself in their rematch later on in the evening. Also, Wade Barrett got his Intercontinental Championship rematch after losing the championship to Curtis Axel at Payback the previous Sunday. It was a Triple Threat Match that also featured The Miz; Axel won the championship in controversial fashion when Miz had Wade Barrett locked in his signature submission hold “The Figure Four Leg-Lock” and Axel picked up the scraps by pinning Barrett to win the championship, so I felt that he needed to prove himself as Intercontinental Champion. During the rematch against Barrett, Axel did just that by hitting Barrett with his signature maneuver and pinning him for the 1-2-3 to retain his championship. …

WWE Raw 6-17-13: Changes In the Air

I was in attendance for this edition of Raw that took place at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The show began with the new World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio (accompanied by his personal ring announcer Ricardo Rodriguez). Del Rio addressed his actions from the previous night at the Payback Pay-Per-View event and was met with a chorus of boos from the WWE Universe. After all of this, Del Rio then stated that for the last few months, he has fought for the WWE Universe and all they did was disrespect him. After making this statement, it was clear that both Del Rio and Rodriguez had turned heel. They are then interrupted by CM Punk (accompanied by Paul Heyman); Punk then made it clear that he did not appreciate Del Rio’s posturing. Then, despite protests from Heyman, Punk went on to challenge Del Rio to a non-title match for later on in the show. Raw Managing Supervisor Vickie Guerrero (accompanied by her assistant Brad Maddox) came out and announced that the match would happen in the night’s main event. Also, after losing the Intercontinental Championship to Curtis Axel the night before at Payback, Barrett was scheduled to have …

WWE NXT 5-8-13: New NXT Tag Team Champions

The show began with Baron Corbin going one-on-one with Damien Sandow. Despite a valiant effort, Corbin was not able to pull off the upset and Sandow was victorious. After the match, Sandow issued an open challenge to NXT Champion Big E Langston for his championship. Later on, the challenge was accepted and Big E will defend against Sandow next week on NXT. While I am not a fan of either one of these guys, I will be rooting against Big E. Also, Paige went one-on-one with Bayley. After Paige defeated Bayley, Summer Rae came out and jumped Paige from behind in a hit-and-run attack. A little later on, while Renee Young was interviewing Natalya Neidhart, Summer Rae interrupts. Natalya then issues an open challenge to Summer for a match next week on NXT, which Summer accepts. Also, Briley Pierce went one-on-one with Mr. Sakamoto. I am not a fan of either one of these guys and wasn’t sure who to root against in this one. In the end, it didn’t really matter because during the match, Conor O’Brian comes out and attacks and lays out both men. Shortly after, during a backstage interview with Renee Young, both Pierce and Sakamoto …

WWE NXT 4-17-13: The Shield’s Crusade Continues

The show began with Justin Gabriel going one-on-one with his former friend Leo Kruger with Kruger coming out on top. Also, Yoshi Tatsu went one-on-one with Bray Wyatt (accompanied by Erick Rowan and Luke Harper) with Wyatt coming out on top. Wyatt then gave a post-match attack to Tatsu followed by sharing some strange and disturbing words with the WWE Universe. Also, during an interview with Renee Young, Paige challenged Summer Rae to a one-on-one match next week on NXT, which lead to Summer jumping Paige from behind and accepting the challenge. Also, Bayley went one-on-one with Emma with Emma coming out on top. Finally, there was the main event Lumberjack Match between Corey Graves and Shield member Seth Rollins. While I am not a fan of either one of these guys, I was rooting against Rollins. In the end, despite the fact that Rollins gave his Shield cohorts Dean Ambrose & Roman Reigns the night off, the two of them show up and not only take out the Lumberjacks, but Ambrose also decks Corey Graves (unbeknownst to the ref) which allows Rollins to pick up the victory. Overall, this wasn’t one of the better editions of NXT because all …

WWE Smackdown 4-12-13: Fandango Attacks Chris Jericho…Again

On this edition of Smackdown, there were quite a few Raw Superstars that visited the show. The show began with NXT Champion Big E Langston mocking Ricardo Rodriguez’s introduction of Alberto Del Rio by introducing the new World Heavyweight Champion Dolph Ziggler in similar fashion. Dolph headed to the ring with both Big E and AJ Lee to address the success he had this past Monday on Raw by cashing in his Money In the Bank contract for an opportunity at the World Heavyweight Championship and defeating Del Rio for the championship. During Dolph’s address, he is interrupted by Jack Swagger & Zeb Colter. Colter tells Ziggler that Swagger played a huge role in him winning the championship this past Monday and that Swagger won’t be waiting so long for an opportunity at Ziggler’s championship. Then, he is interrupted by Del Rio who then tells Ziggler that once his leg is healed, he will be looking to reclaim the championship. Dolph is then interrupted by Chris Jericho who informs Dolph that Smackdown General Manager and WWE Hall of Famer Booker T has booked Jericho and Ziggler in a non-title main event match for the evening. Also, WWE Chief Operating Officer …

WWE NXT 3-13-13 Review

The first match of the night was between Derrick Bateman and Kassius Ohno. After Kassius got the victory, he continued to attack Bateman. This led to William Regal leaving the announce table and putting a stop to Ohno’s attack. Regal later apologized because he felt he was being unprofessional. In my opinion, he didn’t have to apologize for anything because someone had to put a stop Ohno’s attack. The next match was between Emma and Summer Rae. Now while I am a fan of both women’s looks, I am not a fan of either one of them personally, so it was great to see them beat the hell out of one another. However, since I hate Summer Rae more, I was rooting against her. Summer ended up getting the victory, but after the match was over, Paige came storming down to the ring to get a piece of Summer Rae, who injured her shoulder. But Summer Rae chickened out and high-tailed it out of the ring. It’s obvious that the score between these two is far from settled. Backstage, Renee Young interviewed NXT Tag Team Champion Adrian Neville to get an update on his NXT Tag Team Championship partner Oliver …

WWE NXT 2-27-13 Review

The show started out backstage with NXT General Manager and WWE Hall of Famer Dusty Rhodes talking with Bo Dallas. All of sudden, Corey Graves walks in with Big E Langston’s NXT Championship intact. He Reluctantly hands the belt over to Dusty Rhodes, who is obviously intending to return it to it’s current owner. Then, Corey asks why Bo Dallas is there and Dusty responds by saying that Bo is there because of his recent accomplishments over current Intercontinental Champion Wade Barrett. Corey Graves then tells dusty that he should be NXT Champion. Once Dusty hears this, he makes a no. 1 contenders triple threat match between Corey Graves, Conor O’Brian, and Bo Dallas in the main event of the evening, the winner gets a shot at Big E Langston’s championship. Later on in the program, backstage announcer Renee Young reports that Bo Dallas was mysteriously attacked and was not able to compete. Therefore, the triple threat match turned into a one-on-one match. Before the match could decide the winner, out of nowhere comes The Shield and attacks both competitors, leaving no no. 1 contender to the championship in the end. Personally, I have mixed emotions about that outcome. On …
