WWE Takes over Grand Rapids Once Again

Van Andel Arena

Last night, I was in attendance at the Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, MI for WWE Live. This event was not televised, but one of the best things about that is that something newsworthy can happen that a lot of people do not get to see.

Two Divas Switch Roles

Summer Rae and The Funkadactyls (Naomi & Cameron) teamed up against Layla, Eva Marie and Rosa Mendes; therefore, this means that Summer Rae is now a face and Eva Marie is now a heel. What began as a dance-off ended up turning into a Six-Diva Tag Team Match. In the end, Summer and The Funkadactyls were victorious.

Dancing Confidently

It would appear that Cody Rhodes has regained his confidence to team up with his half-brother Goldust once again because they teamed up against WWE Tag Team Champions The Usos (Jimmy & Jey) and Wyatt Family members Luke Harper & Erick Rowan in a Triple Threat Match for the The Usos’ Championships. While I am a fan of both The Usos and The Rhodes Brothers, I was rooting for The Usos to win this one. I would also like to point out that during the match, both The …

WWE Money In the Bank 7-14-13: Two Brand New Mr. Money In the Banks Crowned

Money In the Bank Kickoff

During the Money In the Bank Kickoff (Pre-Show), WWE Tag Team Champions and Shield members Seth Rollins & Roman Reigns defended their championships against #1 contenders and Reigns’ second cousins The Usos (Jimmy & Jey). The Usos came within inches of becoming the new champions, but in the end, it was Reigns who hit Jimmy with his signature maneuver “The Spear” to get the pin and the win for his team and retain their championships. I sure hope The Usos aren’t done with The Shield because Jimmy & Jey are way overdue for a WWE Tag Team Championship reign.

It’s Not Cryback, It’s Ryback

Chris Jericho went one-on-one with Ryback. During the weeks leading up to their match, Jericho played mind games with Ryback by referring to him as “Cryback”; unfortunately, it was not enough to over come the powerhouse when Ryback rolled up Jericho to get the pin and the win.

Kaitlyn’s Injury May Have Cost Her

In a WWE Divas Championship rematch between BFFs-turned-bitter enemies, Champion AJ Lee (accompanied by Big E Langston) and Challenger Kaitlyn (accompanied by Layla El), Kaitlyn came into the match wearing a sleeve over her injured left …

WWE Raw 7-1-13: The Two World Champions Collide

Every Money In the Bank Competitor, Except One, States His Case

With the WWE Championship Contract Money In the Bank Briefcase hanging above the ring and a ladder inside the ring, Daniel Bryan came out to state his case on why he would win the WWE Championship Contract Money In the Bank Ladder Match at the upcoming WWE event, Money In the Bank. Then, all the rest of the competitors for this match came out, which consists of Sheamus O’Shaunessy, Randy Orton, Kane, Christian, and CM Punk. The only one who was conspicuous by his absence was Rob Van Dam. After all the rest of the men stated their cases, chaos followed when Orton struck Kane with his signature maneuver “The RKO”.

Kane Gets Some Unwanted Assistance

Backstage, Daniel Bryan informed his former Team Hell No tag team partner Kane that Raw Managing Supervisor Vickie Guerrero made a match between Kane and Randy Orton with Daniel Bryan as the special guest referee. I am a fan of both Kane and Orton and was not sure who to root for in this one. As for the match, at one point, Orton kind of shoved Bryan, leading to Bryan disqualifying Orton …

WWE Raw 6-17-13: Daniel Bryan Finally Proves to the Entire World (or Rather Himself) That He Is Not the “Weak Link”

 Double Disqualification = Rematch

The show began with a rematch between Randy Orton and Daniel Bryan. I am a fan of both of these men and I was not sure who to root for in this one. At one point, both men ended up outside the ring and got so aggressive with one another to the point where they both ended up getting disqualified. This led to Bryan, who has been obsessed with not being called the “weak link” for quite some time now, going to Raw Managing Supervisor Vickie Guerrero and demanding a rematch for later in the evening, which Vickie eventually agreed to.

AJ Lee Strikes Again

During a match between Kaitlyn (accompanied by Layla El) and Aksana, Kaitlyn’s theme music hit and out comes WWE Divas Champion AJ Lee dressed as her. Aksana tried to take advantage of the distraction, but Kaitlyn was able to hit her with her signature maneuver “The Spear” to get the pin and the win. After the match, AJ Lee had her friend Big E Langston come out and they then proceeded to mock Kaitlyn by re-enacting the hoax that AJ pulled on Kaitlyn a few weeks ago. Layla ended up having …

WWE Superstars 6-20-13: Divas Division Heats Up

I was in attendance at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, Michigan for this edition of Superstars. First, R-Truth went one-on-one with one-half of The Prime Time Players Darren Young (accompanied by the other half of The Prime Time Players Titus O’Neil). In the end, despite attempted interference from O’Neil, R-Truth was able to defeat Young. Also, in the main event, the team of Natalya Neidhart and Layla El faced The Funkadactyls (Naomi & Cameron Lynn). I am a fan of all these women and I was not sure which team to root for in this one. At one point in the match, things started to get a little intense between Natalya and Cameron, with their respective tag team partners stepping in and attempting to settle things down a bit. In the end, it was Natalya and Layla who emerged victorious. I would also like to point out that this was Matt Striker’s last show in WWE because his contract had expired on this day and WWE had decided not to renew his contract.…

WWE Raw 6-17-13: Changes In the Air

I was in attendance for this edition of Raw that took place at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The show began with the new World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio (accompanied by his personal ring announcer Ricardo Rodriguez). Del Rio addressed his actions from the previous night at the Payback Pay-Per-View event and was met with a chorus of boos from the WWE Universe. After all of this, Del Rio then stated that for the last few months, he has fought for the WWE Universe and all they did was disrespect him. After making this statement, it was clear that both Del Rio and Rodriguez had turned heel. They are then interrupted by CM Punk (accompanied by Paul Heyman); Punk then made it clear that he did not appreciate Del Rio’s posturing. Then, despite protests from Heyman, Punk went on to challenge Del Rio to a non-title match for later on in the show. Raw Managing Supervisor Vickie Guerrero (accompanied by her assistant Brad Maddox) came out and announced that the match would happen in the night’s main event. Also, after losing the Intercontinental Championship to Curtis Axel the night before at Payback, Barrett was scheduled to have …

WWE Payback 6-16-13: John Cena Survives Hell

In a match during the Payback Kickoff (Pre-Show), Sheamus O’Shaunessy defeated one-half of Team Rhodes Scholars Damien Sandow. As for the matches for the Pay-Per-View portion of Payback, WWE Divas Champion Kaitlyn had retribution on her mind heading into her defense against former BFF AJ Lee; unfortunately, it was not to be because in the end, it was AJ who forced Kaitlyn to submit to her signature submission hold “The Black Widow” to become the WWE Divas Champion for the first time. After the heart-wrenching loss, Kaitlyn was consoled by fellow former WWE Divas Champions Layla El, Natalya Neidhart, and Alicia Fox, thus turning Alicia face. Also, United States Champion and Shield leader Dean Ambrose defended against Kane. In the end, when Kane attempted to hit Ambrose with his signature maneuver “The Chokeslam” through the announcers’ table outside the ring, it was Ambrose who countered by hitting Kane with a DDT and getting back in the ring to beat the referee’s ten count, thus beating Kane and retaining his championship via count-out. Also, Intercontinental Champion Wade Barrett was originally scheduled to defend against both The Miz and Fandango in a Triple Threat Match; however, Fandango had suffered an injury during …

WWE Superstars 4-26-13: Great Homecoming In Great Britain for Layla

This week’s edition of WWE Superstars took place at the O2 Arena in London, England from the United Kingdom. The first match was between one-half of The Usos, Jimmy (accompanied by his brother Jey) and Michael McGillicutty with Jimmy coming out on top. In the main event, it was a Divas Tag Team Match when the team of WWE Divas Champion Kaitlyn & London, England native Layla took on the team of Tamina Snuka & Aksana. In the end, it was Kaitlyn who hit both Aksana and Tamina with her signature move, the Spear, leading her team to victory. Not only was it a great homecoming for Layla, but this was one of the nights that all of the heroes came through for the WWE Universe.…

WWE Raw 4-22-13: John Cena “Adjusts” Ryback’s “Attitude”

The show began with Paul Heyman in the ring telling everybody that he was there on behalf of his client Brock Lesnar to await WWE Chief Operating Officer Triple H’s response to Lesnar’s challenge to Triple H in a Steel Cage Match at the upcoming pay-per-view event, Extreme Rules. Heyman then informed the WWE Universe that he had received a text from Triple H saying that he wasn’t going to be at Raw this night due to the injuries to his arm he is recovering from and that he would give Lesnar his answer next week on Raw. However, Triple H’s music hit and out comes Triple H. Triple H then tells Heyman that the text he sent him was a lie. He then tells Heyman to tell Lesnar that he accepts his challenge at Extreme Rules and then hits Heyman with his signature move, the Pedigree. Also, Raw Managing Supervisor Vickie Guerrero and her assistant Brad Maddox informed World Heavyweight Champion Dolph Ziggler that if Chris Jericho wins in his non-title match against Ziggler, then Jericho will be added to the World Heavyweight Championship Match at Extreme Rules between champion Ziggler, Alberto Del Rio, and Jack Swagger, thus becoming …

WWE Main Event 3-20-13: Tag Team Action Highlights the Show

The show began with Intercontinental Champion Wade Barrett going one-on-one with R-Truth in a non-title match. After Barrett beat R-Truth, he got into a confrontation with commentator The Miz. The Miz ended up running Barrett off. It’s pretty clear that things aren’t settled between these two. Also, Josh Mathews interviewed Sheamus about the possibility of Big Show being his and Randy Orton’s tag team partner against The Shield at WrestleMania 29. Sheamus said that he was not going to speak for Randy Orton and I think he basically indicated that he’s not too sure about having Big Show as his partner. Personally, while I definitely think Big Show has all the tools in the world to stop The Shield, I just don’t think he is a trustworthy guy. Therefore, I think Orton and Sheamus need to choose a guy who is trustworthy. In the first tag team match of the night, it was Natalya teaming up with Layla to take the team of Alicia Fox & Aksana. Right before the match started, Alicia Fox got on the mic and took shots at Natalya’s boyfriend, The Great Khali. Natalya made Alicia Fox eat her words by forcing her to tap out …

WWE Smackdown 3-8-13 Review

On this edition of Smackdown, Michael Cole informed the WWE Universe that he would be filling in on commentary for JBL (the normal commentary team being Josh Mathews and JBL) for the next few weeks due to JBL’s mountain climbing duties. The Assistant to the Raw Managing Supervisor Brad Maddox also unexpectedly joined the commentary team for the night. The two main events were World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio vs. Mr. Money In the Bank Dolph Ziggler in a non-title match and Sheamus vs. Big Show. Del Rio once again came out on top against Ziggler in the series of matches against one another. I don’t know if anybody else notices, but Dolph Ziggler has been on quite a bit of a losing streak as of late. In the other main event, The Shield interrupted the match by attacking Sheamus, thus getting Big Show disqualified. Randy Orton came out to even the odds a little more for Sheamus. Eventually, Big Show recovered from the Brogue Kick from Sheamus and cleared The Shield from the ring. However, Big Show then clocked Sheamus with a KO Punch followed by Orton RKOing Big Show to end the program. Another interesting thing that …

WWE Superstars 3-7-13 Review

On this edition of WWE Superstars, there were at least parts of “Old School” accessories. The first match of the night was The Usos taking on the reunited Team Rhodes Scholars with Team Rhodes Scholars coming out victorious. In the main event, it was Layla taking on Tamina Snuka. I’d also like to point out that as Layla made her way into the ring, I couldn’t help but notice commentator Matt Striker saying that Layla is the type of diva that he would wanna marry. The reasons being that Layla is not one of those divas that’s crazy, insecure, or anything like that. He feels that Layla is perfect in every way. Personally, I agree with Matt Striker; Layla is a very positive woman. For instance, she’s fun-loving, she shows her humorous side, and she interacts with young members of the WWE Universe by giving one lucky young boy a kiss on his cheek on her way to the ring. Bottom line, she is a very beautiful sweetheart. As for her match, despite the fact that Tamina dominated throughout most of the contest, Layla managed to roll to Tamina up to get the pin and the win.…

Kiss My Foot Matches Between the Women

The Rule of a Kiss My Foot Match is that the loser of the match must kiss the winner’s feet. Throughout wrestling history, WWE has had two Kiss My Foot Matches that featured the men, but have never had any between the women. However, there was one Kiss My Foot Match between the women that took place at WWE’s Developmental Territory in late 2007, but it was kind of only one-sided because only one of the women in the match had the opportunity of getting her feet kissed by her opponent. When the men have Kiss My Foot Matches, it’s a pretty disturbing sight, but if the women had them, the sight would be much better. Bottom line, I think there should be more Kiss My Foot Matches between the women in any wrestling company.…
