WWE Main Event 5-29-13: New Commentary Team

On this edition of Main Event, the WWE Universe was introduced to Main Event’s newest commentary team in Josh Mathews, Ricardo Rodriguez, and The Miz. One of the great things about this new commentary team is the fact that John “Bradshaw” Layfield is not included. Also, it was a back-and-forth-action non-title match between Intercontinental Champion Wade Barrett and Sheamus O’Shaunessy. In the end, when both men went for their respective signature maneuvers, it was Sheamus who ended up beating Barrett to the punch (or rather the kick) to get the pin and the win. After the match, Barrett challenged The Miz to step in the ring with him. Miz accepted the invitation and left the announcers’ table to step inside the ring. After a brief face-off, Barrett attempted to hit Miz with his championship belt, but Miz ended up ducking and hitting Barrett with his signature maneuver “The Skull-Crushing Finale”.…

WWE’s Current Most Underrated Superstars

Today in WWE, there are numerous superstars that I feel aren’t entirely getting the credit or fame that they deserve. I feel that WWE’s current most underrated superstars are, in no particular order, Kofi Kingston, Bo Dallas, Zack Ryder, Sasha Banks, Paige, Sami Zayne, Brodus Clay, Tensai, Sin Cara, Justin Gabriel, Tyson Kidd, Ted DiBiase, Jr.; Yoshi Tatsu, Evan Bourne, Santino Marella, and Alex Riley. WWE really needs to start giving these guys a push and in some cases, again.…

WWE Raw 5-27-13: Bret Hart Appreciation Night

This Memorial Day edition of Raw was dedicated to all the men and women serving in the U.S. Military. The show began with WWE Champion John Cena coming out to address Ryback’s challenge to an Ambulance Match at the upcoming Payback Pay-Per-View event. Cena announced that at Payback, he will defend his championship against Ryback in a Three Stages of Hell Match. A Three Stages of Hell Match consists of a 2-out-of-3 Falls Match with with each fall having a stipulation. Cena said that the first fall’s stipulation will be a Lumberjack Match, the second fall a Tables Match, and, if necessary, the third fall will be the very stipulation Ryback challenged Cena to, an Ambulance Match. Ryback then came out and accepted the challenge. So, it’s official, at Payback, Cena will defend his championship against Ryback in a Three Stages of Hell Match. After Ryback accepted, Paul Heyman and his newest client, Curtis Axel, came out and issued a challenge to Cena for a non-title one-on-one match for the main event of the evening, which Cena accepted. Also, the WWE Universe were given the opportunity to vote on the WWE App on which role The Miz would play in …

OVW TV 5-25-13: Mohamad Ali Vaez Returns

The show began with OVW Southern Tag Team Champions and Coalition members Crimson & Jason Wayne giving a State of OVW Address. They brought up the fact that last week on OVW TV, Michael Hayes was relieved of his duties as OVW Director of Operations. Then, OVW Owner “Nightmare” Danny Davis comes out and informs The Coalition, as well as everybody else, that the position of OVW Director of Operations is no more and that Davis is running things around OVW. He then announced that he had reinstated Michael Hayes as an active wrestler. Then, he told Crimson & Wayne that they would be facing Hayes and a partner of Hayes’ choosing at the next Saturday Night Special in a non-title match. Davis also said that Hayes would reveal who his partner would be later in the night, which The Coalition spent the entire evening trying to find out about. Also, one-half of The Mobile Homers Ted McNaler (accompanied by Brittany DeVore) went one-on-one with Marcus Anthony, who was making his return to TNA. At one point in the match, McNaler appeared to have injured his back; Anthony capitalized on this and finished off McNaler to get the victory. After …

ROH TV 5-25-13: Epic Main Event

On this edition of ROH TV, announcer and wrestler Veda Scott, still pissed about MsChif spitting green mist into her face a few weeks ago on ROH TV, challenged MsChif to a match. Speaking of MsChif, she went one-on-one with Cherry Bomb. At first, I thought that maybe Veda Scott had turned heel a few weeks ago; however, after seeing her use some underhanded tactics during the match, I’m thinking it’s MsChif who has turned heel. As for the ending result of the match, while the referee had his back turned, Veda Scott came out and snapped MsChif’s neck off the rope ring rope; this allowed Cherry Bomb to capitalize and finish off MsChif to get the victory. The only question that remains is whether or not MsChif will accept Veda’s challenge. Personally, I hope so because I’ve never seen Veda in an official wrestling match before. Also, ROH Match Maker Nigel McGuinness decided to make the ROH Championship match between The Briscoe Brothers, Jay being the champion and Mark being the challenger, happen and it will take place at the upcoming Best In the World 2013 I-PPV event. While I am a fan of both of The Briscoe Brothers, …

WWE Smackdown 5-24-13: The Shield Continues to Dominate

On this edition of Smackdown, one-half of Team Hell No Daniel Bryan was still having a hard time dealing with Team Hell No losing the WWE Tag Team Championship at the Extreme Rules Pay-Per-View event last Sunday. Bryan has this paranoia that he is the weak link of Team Hell No. Despite words of encouragement from the other half of Team Hell No Kane, it did nothing in snapping Bryan out of his paranoia. In his match against Jack Swagger, Bryan managed to beat him by getting him to tap out to his signature submission hold “The “No” Lock”. After the match, Bryan had snapped and once again locked Swagger in the “No” Lock” until his tag team partner Kane pulled him off. On this week’s edition of Backstage Fallout from Smackdown on WWE on YouTube, Bryan continued his tirade. Also, new United States Champion and Shield leader Dean Ambrose made his first championship defense against the very man he beat for it, Kofi Kingston. At one point in the match, while Kofi was getting ready to launch himself off the top ring rope onto Ambrose, the new WWE Tag Team Champions and other two Shield members Seth Rollins …

WWE NXT 5-22-13: Newcomer Makes Huge Impact

The show began with newcomer Sami Zayne going one-on-one with Curt Hawkins. In the end, Zayne was able to pull off the upset when he beat Hawkins. Also, Yoshi Tatsu went one-on-one with Antonio Cesaro with Cesaro coming out on top. After the match, Cesaro said that there was no competition for him. All of sudden, Sami Zayne emerges and challenges Cesaro to a match right there and now, which Cesaro accepts. After back-and-forth action between the two, Zayne manages to roll up Cesaro for the pin and the win to pull off a huge upset. Unfortunately for Zayne, he made the rookie mistake of turning his back to Cesaro when Cesaro jumped him from behind for a post-match attack. I’m not 100% positive, but I think Sami Zayne is the man formerly known as former ROH Superstar El Generico unmasked. Finally, in the main event, Corey Graves went one-on-one with Wyatt Family leader Bray Wyatt (accompanied by fellow Wyatt Family cohorts and NXT Tag Team Champions Luke Harper & Erick Rowan). In the end, thanks to some interference from the tag team champions, Bray Wyatt was able to get the victory. Afterwards, The Wyatt Family gave a post-match attack …

Impact Wrestling 5-23-13: AJ Styles Stands Alone?

The show began with General Manager Hulk Hogan coming out to discuss the No Holds Barred TNA World Heavyweight Championship Match between Champion and the President of Aces & Eights Bully Ray and Challenger and TNA Hall of Famer Sting at the upcoming Slammiversary Pay-Per-View event. Hogan then has Sting come out; he then reminds Sting about the fact that he agreed that if he didn’t beat Bully Ray then he would never get another opportunity at the championship again for the rest of his career. While Hogan tried to persuade Sting into not going through with it, Sting made it clear that his mind was made up. Then, Hulk’s daughter and Knockouts Executive Brooke Hogan comes out and tells Hulk and Sting that she feels that neither one of them is at fault for all the power that Aces & Eights have gained, but that she is at fault because she was the one that fell for her estranged husband Bully Ray. Brooke was then about to resign as Knockouts Executive because she felt that it was best for TNA, but before she could, her father cuts her off before she does something she may regret. Bully Ray then …

OVW TV 5-18-13: The Coalition Lose the Battle, But Win the War?

On this edition of OVW TV, we found out that Randy Royal had beat Rockstar Spud for the OVW Television Championship, thanks to an assist from Royal’s friend Tony Gunn, at the previous weekend’s Saturday Night Special. I’m pretty positive there was some reluctance on both parts of Royal and Gunn; what this means is that while Royal did not necessarily prefer to win the championship this way, he was a desperate man because he needed the championship so he could get paid a huge amount of money to pay off his recent medical bill after suffering heart attack recently. Gunn only agreed to do his part because he wanted to show Royal that he is behind him all the way. Either way, Rockstar Spud was not happy with either man and he has every intention of getting the championship back from Royal. Also, throughout the night, Jay Bradley was calling out OVW Heavyweight Champion Jamin Olivencia and declaring himself the new #1 contender to the championship. At one point, Bradley went after OVW commentator Dean Hill; fortunately, before Bradley could do anything to Hill, Jamin Olivencia comes out to put a stop to Bradley. OVW Director of Operations Michael …

WWE Superstars 5-23-13: Twins’ Night

On this edition of Superstars, in a very unique and unexpected 8-Person Mixed Tag Team Match, Tons of Funk (Brodus Clay & Tensai) & The Funkadactyls (Naomi & Cameron Lynn) took on two identical twin duos in The Usos (Jimmy & Jey) and The Bella Twins (Nikki & Brie). It didn’t make sense that these two twin duos were teaming up because The Usos are currently faces and The Bellas are currently heels and that’s the way they went into and out of this match-up. The only sense I can make out of this is that someone who had the power to make decisions in the WWE wanted to know what it was like seeing these two twin duos team up. Either way, I am a fan of all of the competitors that were in this match, except for The Bellas; I was rooting for Tons of Funk & The Funkadactyls in this one. The two twin duos did have a few issues co-existing with each other during the match. I also noticed that throughout the match that Jimmy Uso and Naomi were kind of eying one another. As a matter of fact, after Brodus Clay finished off Jimmy to …

WWE Main Event 5-22-13: Ryback Strikes Again

The show began with a rematch between Alberto Del Rio (accompanied by Ricardo Rodriguez) and NXT Champion Big E Langston (accompanied by AJ Lee) from this past Monday on Raw. Big E defeated Del Rio last Monday thanks to a distraction from AJ and a thumb to the eye of Del Rio, but on this night, Del Rio got retribution when he beat Big E. In the main event, The Usos (Jimmy & Jey) took on 3MB members Drew McIntyre & Jinder Mahal (accompanied by 3MB leader Heath Slater). At one point during the match, an ambulance emerges into the arena with Ryback coming out of the back, similar to what he did this past Monday on Raw. After taking out Heath Slater, he then carries him over and stuffs him into the ambulance, just like he did to one-half of Team Cobro Zack Ryder this past Monday on Raw. The Usos capitalized on this and picked up the victory. Also, Intercontinental Champion Wade Barrett was supposed to defend against Sin Cara, but for some reason, the match didn’t take place. I sure hope this match is post-poned and not cancelled because Sin Cara has earned this opportunity.…

WWE Raw 5-20-13: Two Superstars Get the Biggest Wins of Their Careers

The show began with Ryback actually arriving into the arena in the back of an ambulance. After Ryback stepped out of the ambulance and then on top of it, he then went on to challenge WWE Champion John Cena in an Ambulance Match for the championship at the upcoming Payback Pay-Per-View event and the match has been made official. Also, after hearing all the rumors, it was confirmed that Paul Heyman had enlisted a new client named Curtis Axel, the man formerly known as Michael McGillicutty. As Heyman discusses Axel, he is then interrupted by WWE Chief Operating Officer Triple H. Triple H then tells Heyman that he has every intention of kicking his ass. Then, Axel gets in Triple H’s face, but ends up receiving a slap for his troubles. Triple H then says that he will face Axel in a match later on in the evening and added that after he kicks Axel’s ass, he’s going to kick Heyman’s. Also, Alberto Del Rio (accompanied by his personal ring announcer Ricardo Rodriguez), the new #1 contender to Dolph Ziggler’s World Heavyweight Championship, went one-on-one with NXT Champion Big E Langston (accompanied by AJ Lee). In the end, thanks to …

WWE Extreme Rules: The Shield Score Championships, Brock Lesnar Rules the Cage, Jack Swagger Says “I Quit”, and No One Is Left Standing

At Extreme Rules, The Shield (Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, & Roman Reigns) conquered and won gold. First, it was Ambrose who beat Kofi Kingston for the United States Championship. Despite the fact that the other two members of The Shield accompanied Ambrose, they did not play any role whatsoever in Ambrose winning the championship. Ambrose won the championship fair and square, so the entire world has no choice but to give the devil his due. Also, it was the other two Shield members (Rollins & Reigns) who won the WWE Tag Team Championship from Team Hell No (Kane & Daniel Bryan) in a Tornado Tag Team Match. Also, the “I Quit” Match between Alberto Del Rio (accompanied by his personal ring announcer Ricardo Rodriguez) and Jack Swagger (accompanied by Zeb Colter) to determine the #1 contender to Dolph Ziggler’s World Heavyweight Championship was a controversial one. It all started when Colter snatched the towel that was in possession of Rodriguez and threw it in the ring, trying to deceive referee Mike Chioda into thinking that Rodriguez had thrown in the towel for Del Rio. At first, Colter had succeeded in pulling off the ruse when Chioda declared Swagger the winner. …

ROH TV 5-18-13: Brother vs. Brother?

The show began with ROH Match Maker Nigel McGuinness coming out and announcing the following guys who will get a future opportunity at the ROH World Championship. Before he can finish, the champion Jay Briscoe comes out and tells Nigel that he doesn’t care who gets put in front of him because he will kick all of their asses. Then, Jay’s brother Mark comes out and tells him how much he has been talking about that ever since he won the championship. Mark then actually issues an open challenge to his brother for the championship, which Jay accepts. Nigel then tells The Briscoes that he will take it under consideration. Will we see two brothers fight for the ROH World Championship? Also, in the main event, Kevin Steen went one-on-one with Adam Cole, who recently turned heel. In the end, thanks to some interference from members of S.C.U.M., Cole was able to defeat Steen to end the program.…

WWE Smackdown 5-17-13: “Extreme” Momentum

The show began with an edition of The Miz’s talk show “Miz TV”. The Miz’s two guests were Randy Orton and Big Show, who will go one-on-one in an Extreme Rules Match this Sunday at the Extreme Rules Pay-Per-View event. Eventually, Jack Swagger (accompanied by Zeb Colter), Alberto Del Rio (accompanied by his person ring announcer Ricardo Rodriguez), Mark Henry, and Sheamus O’Shaunessy join the fray and then chaos ensues. Afterwards, the Senior Advisor to the Smackdown General Manager (WWE Hall of Famer Booker T) Teddy Long, who is running Smackdown while Booker T recovers from an elbow injury, decides to make a Six-Man Tag Team main event match for the evening between the team of Randy Orton, Sheamus, and Alberto Del Rio against the team of Big Show, Mark Henry, and Jack Swagger. Also, it was a family affair when The Usos (Jimmy & Jey) took on two members of The Shield (Seth Rollins & Roman Reigns, The Usos’ second cousin), who were accompanied by the leader of The Shield Dean Ambrose. Every guy in this match was a member of the famous Anoa’i Wrestling Family except for Rollins. In the end, it was The Shield who came out …

Impact Wrestling 5-16-13: Sting’s Last World Championship Opportunity?

The Show began with General Manager Hulk Hogan coming out to call out Abyss and thank him for returning last week and aiding TNA in the war against Aces & Eights; however, Abyss’ brother Joseph Park came out instead. Park then tells Hogan how ecstatic he is that his brother is back because he has been looking for him for a long time. They then get interrupted by Aces & Eights members TNA Television Champion Devon & D’Lo Brown. Park then goes on to tell Devon that he has had of enough of The Aces & Eights’ actions and challenges Devon to a match. Devon responds by telling Park that until he proves something to him, he refuses to face him. D’Lo then offers to fight Park and prove a point so that he can earn back his Aces & Eights vest. Hogan then decides to make the match official for the evening and says that if Park wins, then he’ll get to face Devon in a non-title match at the upcoming Slammiversary Pay-Per-View event. Also, TNA Knockouts Executive Brooke Hogan told Mickie James that she will get an opportunity at Velvet Sky’s TNA Knockout Women’s Championship next week on …
